    Re: Damn Gunners!

Another reason to play on severs with teamspeak not to mention join, and work with squads!

Even if your gunner isn't talking, you can still shout out a "WAKE UP! They're RIGHT THERE!"
    Or even better;
"Coming around for an infantry sweep, be ready with the guns!"
    Or
    "Tank! Go to missile!"

Hehe, I had a great one the other day. I was gunning, calling out targets, spoting, and giving tactical advice to my pilot. Others in the squad were talking, but I hadden't heard anything from the guy flying. Then he chimes in with "Ah, you seem to know what you're doing... you wanna fly?". I said sure, he landed and we switched spots.
Turned out he was a great gunner, but he was totally blown away that we were communicating.

    Hella fun!

How much effect does using TS during gameplay have on the lag factor? Does it create more lag?

anyway its hard to find a decent PILOT. granted most gunners suck too.for many different reasons ,1 your gunner is from another countryt with a 200+ ping. 2 your gunner is a noob.

i was a gunner earlier and the pilot started hovering over the flag trying to take it, guys were all over us and i couldnt get a shot on any of them cause the pilot was not giving one., i was cussing and screaming.

please for love of God or Allah please if you dont know how to fly please DONT FLY. i dont fly causer i know i cant fly, i however can gun.

          look for me.
I can do both quite well... sometimes finding a good gunner, or a good pilot for that matter is such a pain in the ass. Then I have to do both. I can actually pull it off more and more now.

Question for you on that point ... I have the same mouse, ok? I'm just curious as to what your DPI settings are when you gun and when you're ground-pounding. So far I'm having a little bit of trouble adjusting to the new mouse (I had a Microsoft wireless Intellimouse Explorer previously), but I'm not sure if it's just due to lag or what.

So basically, I've just been sticking to piloting lately; I'm pretty good at setting up my gunner for kills. Unfortunately I'm pretty terrible at actually getting those kills myself. I'm so bad at helo x helo combat ... but if we shoot down the enemy attack helo, boy can my gunner and I mop up and control the skies!

              Re: Damn Gunners!

I was playing Daqing Oilfields tonight and got in the F-15. Started my own squad. I'm not seeing any enemy jets in the sky, rarely get a lock... but my flying style in the bomber is such that I don't really go for kills myself, I need a WSO to do some damage. Finally, someone joins my squad and spawned on the ground before I got a chance to talk to him. I said, "If you wanna gun in the F-15, just spawn on me". So he does. Nifty. I make a pass over the gas station and see a bunch of targets, but he doesn't fire.. I say, "Ok, we'll make another pass over the gas station, there's a bunch of stuff down there." Go do my turn, come back over the gas station, "Target" I say.. Nothing. Drop my bombs, get a kill or two. Do the same thing a few more times, he never fires a missle, so I got get some more bombs for myself. Next thing I know, he's not in my jet any more. Oh well.

Another guy or two joins, and I tell em that I'm flying the F-15 and need a gunner. A different guy spawns on me, so I'm thinking that I'll finally be able to wreak some havoc. Wrong. Same damn thing. Just sits back there. "Do you know how to use the missles? Are you not getting locks? Am I flying too fast, too low?" No answer via voice or text. Argh! Two damn morons in a row!

I end up running in to a teammate as I'm getting some bombs, and when I make my way back to the F-15 there is someone else there waiting. I let him take the pilot's seat and I hop in the back.. We were bleeding and only had about 40 - 50 tickets left, but we still racked up about 10 kills in that short amount of time! Too bad that guy wasn't around whe I first started flying the damn thing.

Did you know, buddy, that the TV missile has a range about 3 times the visibility range? So you can actually kill targets you can't see. I assume he was waiting for you to start TV rocketing to their main base, and catch some targets when you see them thru' the camera.

You were useless if you didn't fire at targets you can't see, but you know that they are there.

                  Re: Damn Gunners!

Play on a server that has adults, and good players.

There is no reason to have that kind of experience.

One that kicks for abuse of punish, driving to vehicles, commanding from a tank chopper or plane.

A server that switches the sides of a 2 round map - so that each team gets a chace to use the resources of both teams. - switching back after a round of whorage is discouraged.

A server that will kick a player that jumps the line for a plane - because it is courteous to observe the line.

A server that will kick a guy who hops into the Fav or Hummer that you are firing at a chopper - and just drives away.

That is the server you should seek out.

Squads that operate as a squad, 'rotating' leader...as necessary.

Gunners in chopper and Jet's Gunner position that know WTF-101 about them, and tons of regulars who have Graduated S.C.L. on Jets / Choppers M.B.A. on TV and Laser Bombs.

Look for high ranks, and then scope stats for realism, play server.

If the tards are padding - try again - try aniother server.

I play exclusively on the Utopian (most of the time) server that I play on.

The server name is not "Utopian" - by that I meant that it was "preferred".

If you are a player that feels that these rules are what Common-Sense 101 is all about - please seek this server.

I have played some 5,000 rounds on it.:)

Usually, it is all members and a few new folks on a 50 peep server - DEDICATED = no other games running on the Box except for a match or two a week for an hour.

                  No Lag.

There are many admins on, and will kick for any above violations.

This is an invite for the poor guy that posted, not a discussion on server rules.

If you have to ask the name or IP...

From What I've seen, flyin in the bomber seat of the F-15, by the time I usually get locked onto something we have already blown by the damn targets! I prefer to be pilot anyday, will do more damage taht way than flying at a suicidal speed so my bomber can maybe lock on to something and lite it up

Okay I feel I have to say something. what about the people such as myself that have just started playing BF2 online. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get in a chopper as a gunner with a bot flying it in SP? How else are you supposed to learn?

Also off topic a bit, how do you switch positions inside a vehicle, i.e. get in a jeep as gunner without automatically taking drivers seat?

If you want to learn to fly....create your own server and fly around an empty map. :)

It is annoying when you get an unco-operative pilot or gunner. The fact is a heli without a gunner isn't that helpful. With a gunner it can be a map winning vehicle.

It should be common sense really. I fly with a clan-mate and we do fairly well. I frequently get no kills as the pilot cos as far as I am concerned, I am there mostly just to get the gunner into position. I will only use the rockets if we are in quite close and he misses armour with the TV missile.

It is a very nice feeling when the two of us are at a heli spawn with a third guy. He sees we are a clan mates and actually leves the heli for us. Guess he figured that 2 people communicating constantly would be better than 2 individuals in a heli.

ok for gunning i have my dpi set at 1600. in the mec chopper i click down like twice so my pointer is a lot slower and easier to put in the general area of the enemy. if im in a tank the dpi is all the way up so i can move my turret around faster. just play with the 2 little buttons on the mouse you'll find a setting you like.

I didn't say I wanted to fly, I said to learn to be a gunner, therefore creating a server is useless unless somebody else is playing on there and flying the chopper....unless I get in when there is no pilot, take gunners position and shoot from a stationary object at stationary objects...I can do that already
