The helicopters in the game are very agile, and with a good pilot at the helm, very dangerous (especially the cobra), also AA weapons are stationary, making you very vunerable to helicopters, aircraft and infantry on the ground. Lately i have discovered the lighter vehicles in the game (FAV, Nanjing, Vodnik, Humvee, excluding the USMC buggy, becuase the machine gun cannot rotate 360) are far more better at AA role than the stationary weapons themselves, it takes a whole load of bullets to down the damn buggers but i find it very easy to outmanuever the helis with them, and survived a whole load longer.

Anyone else agrees jeeps/buggies are better than the stationary AA?

i agree but i think the buggies are way too strong against chopper missiles. im flying a cobra, chasing an FAV and i get 2 or 3 direct hits in the back of the buggy and it's not even smoking. i think they need to fix that

FAVs are pretty compact, don't be surprised if it avoided most of the missiles you had fired on it, from my experience a head on missile attack 80% of the time (rough estimate) i would survive, but barely with any vehicular "health" left, so another run and i'd be finished.

On another note, i haven't unlocked the PKM, which i plan on unlocking in the near future (hopefully) is it as effective as the PKMs mounted on the vehicles?

I've noticed that vehicles take less damage from splash damage than you're used to, especially moving vehicles.

Perhaps there's some lag and what you're seeing is your missile not hitting as close as it looks like its hitting???

I have the PKM unlocked and it does an ok job against helicopters and vehicles, but the problem is that you are no where as accurate, even while prone.

So unless you're near your target only like half of your bullets will land. The .50 cal on jeeps are much better, do more damage and are much more accurate. Plus you can duck into the vehicle for some cover while firing.

Personally I would rather have an AT rocket to shoot at a Cobra (2x hits kills a Cobra), than a PKM. Reason is that you only need to expose yourself while firing while the PKM you have to have sustained fire on your target, all the while they see your GIGANTIC muzzle flash pinpointing your position.

Do it all the time, it's very easy to shoot apaches and cobra's out of the sky with the car guns, they always seem to stay on 1 place because they think it's minor fire, Untill it's to late:evil: BOOM!!!

Not only jeeps and buggies - any mounted gun is nasty on choppers. I took down 2 blackhawks and an attack chopper in a few minutes with a boat's mounted gun a little while ago. :laugh:

im not sure if its lag or not but im my screen the missiles are hitting directly on the jeep and not doing any damage. even my co pilots are dumbfounded. with tanks and apcs it takes 4-5 direct hits and their dead, it seems like the jeeps have the same defence against cobra missiles as tanks do

Deffo ! A good driver and top gunner are a great combo against hello threats .

I'm glad SOMETHING is good against choppers. Freakin AA is worthless. Hell I've put tank shells into the cockpit of helicoptors only to have em fly away like it was nothing.

The main gun on the USMC Buggy is by far the most powerful gun when it comes to taking down helos. I did some testing some time ago, and if you hit the side of a Cobra you blow it up pretty much at the same time that your gun overheats. If you aim for the glasspart of the Cobra it goes down even faster. But the disadvantage is of course that you can't turn it 360 so some creative thinking when parking the Buggy is required (and a lot of jumping between driver and gunner position)

i love machine gunning helos, I'll put bulets into a helo no matter what i have. Every bit of damage helps (unless they repair).

yes, the jeeps are very very effective against helis. a little too much in my opinion. the attack helicoptors get ownd by an effective fav/vodnik gunner. if i need to take a heli out, i look for a jeep/vodnik.

...or just get a 2-man crew going on.
