Try to break that habit. There are good pilots that can shoot you while you are turning. Be creative and do some moves that no one can anticipate. Dropping airspeed is also a good tactic.

Any hints on locating enemy from the air?

Some pilots can see and hit a fast moving buggy while I barely can see stationary ones!

Hell I guess I will help some of yall out here. The trick is leave it on bombs til you get a better shot (usually on a good straight angle) then flip on the heat seekers, wait wait wait.... flares will go then wait til you got tone.. then fire 4 rockets up his a$$. Works about 90% of the time.
Don't forget to switch to bombs right after shooting the missiles.

Not if the pilot does an immelman. You're left wondering where he's at.

Same here. I don't know how some of those guys do it. They can see everything while flying by at 700+mph, avioid teamkills, etc. Even with my map on wide angle (hit the M key) so I can see almost everything, I can't make out all the red blips at the speeds those things fly at. I guess they just have great vision, something I don't have.

idash, when locating enemies, those on the ground are relitively easy to find. When you are in bombing mode, it will put a box around tanks, jeep, etc. Its harder to spot enemy planes though as they are fast moving and can come from anywhere. But you just have to keep your eye out for them, constantly scan the sky and hope for the best.

It can also help greatly if you have your map up. I often do theis when im on a bombing spree. Youset the transperity to low so that you can see through it, ask for a scan or UAV on a certain are, you can line a up a drop easily.

BE careful in bombing mode. Just because there is a square box doesn't mean its in a fight with friendly vehicles and infrantry. I've seen 5 enemy vehicles and about 6 or 7 enemy infrantry at the MEC airstrip Command Post on Operation CleanSweep, and I bomb it to get all the kills + 3 TKS. 2 of which punished, 1 which forgave.

                      don't let rank fool you.

a friend of mine is a GREAT pilot but is only a private 'cos his clan doesn't have a ranked server. he plays very rarely on ranked servers...

                        Re: Jets - The Secret...?

I have found that just slowing down as you do a curve, results in you doing a much tighter curve, meaning that the guy tailing you ofen overshoots.

Could someone give me a tip on bombing? My latest tactics have been to switch to bombs, then basically fly right at the target, dead in the centre of my sights and then release and pull up at the last moment, unfortunately this results in me hitting the ground a few times (lol, I am still learning), but I do generally get the kills.

Is there a better way to release the bombs on target?

                        Thx

I'm still practicing bombing, but head down on your target at a 45 degree angle with him in the middle of that line between the semi-circle at the bottom of your HUD and the center of your HUD. Then release the bombs when it just feels right.

Is it just me or does it seem like when you use afterburners you get killed more often by the heatseekers - even when dropping flares just a second before? It seems logical in my mind - more heat, but did not know if it was just a fluke that was happening to me.

                              Re: Jets - The Secret...?

Nobody that is really good is going to give you all the tricks that are up his sleeve on a messageboard.

On that note, just practice, alot. People are going to tell you to do certain moves and that it works like 80% of the time and ****, that is ********. Certain moves only work at certain distances and when you and the enemy are at certain angles to each other. If you do a sharp left or an immelman/split-s/half-cuban/etc while the guy is 300 meters away, he will see you do it and he will remain on your ass with ease. Alot of people are forgetting to post the very first thing I do when I see another jet, and I am not saying it because I thought it was very obvious but apparantly it isn't.

I see alot of people post **** that is only true in certain circumstances in here. Banking hard one way or another while hitting the afterburners will let you ditch a missile, but not so effective at certain circumstances (which you can figure out on your own).

People are going to tell you alot of ****, and it is meant in good gesture, but being told some things cannot replace experience through practice. I can tell you how to shoot a pistol in real life, but that does not mean you will be shooting headshots from 50 meters the first time you pick it up because of that, it takes practice. Most people that have played the BF series of games and their mods, have a good jumpstart in skill over someone that is new to the BF series.

Maybe one of you can clear this up for me.

                                1. Once you get the lock and fire rockets, you can actually change to bombs yet still be locked on for the kill?

2.Can you actually kill a pilot who's actually in the tight loop? It almost seems impossible for me?

                                3. For the US fighter jet, can you slow down faster if u put on the afterburners?

                                4. Does increasing the senstivity / yaw factors increase my turning speed or give me tigher turns?

                                thanks!
