adding onto this...there needs to be some test that everyone has to take b4 they can fly a plane or heli...like a compulsory trial...if they pass they can then fly helis etc if they dont they have to practice flying them in special maps...then i wont get annoyed by noos that cant fly

The only negative I see as to the UAV trailer, which is a big negative which completely rules it out, is that the other commander would know EXACTLY where you are EVERY time. You would not have much time to command without an artillery raining down on you from the opposing team, and perhaps likewise to their team. While seemingly a good idea at first, it really would detract from the whole commander role.

Yes he should I always go take flags in my commander humvee when there is no enemy around them. UAV,SCAN, ARTY,SUPL all take time to load so I go do somethin while it loads.

If you want a vehicle a commander is in, just ask him. Too many times vehicles get unused and then used against the team. When the new patch comes out, commanders will have thier hands full with spec ops trying to get points from destroying commander assets. If the commander has a tank, the specs ops in the jeep/blackhawk or even apc will get destroyed and the commander will prevail. If you dont want commanders using assets then you must use them yourselves and take some responsibility for defending the main base.

No, and it is not - my first goal is to win. Secondary to that - having a nice score is a good bonus.

only time I take any vehicle
is to protect it from theft in mid to late game
              NEVER early game
and I might not hear you "ask for it"
but I WILL see red hits if you shoot me with your pistol

Most people will never bother with commanding ... and it ****es me off that you think they should actually not do a damn thing in a match. It's about having fun and as long as the commander is keeping that UAV up permenantly getting supplies down and using that artillery to full effect there should be no reason why he can't fight as well.

As for the guy who said that killing anyone else is taking points from himself... plain and utter stupidity, I bet you still use artillery though right? Look if you kill someone as a commander you are tipping the ratio of people (8v8 I just killed someone so it's now 8v7 for 15s) for ashort amount of time giving our team the edge to kill even more with better numbers. And im saving my people from losing tickets incase that guy killed some of my guys.

Now I don't have a massive commander score (still it's about 10% of my overall score), and find that something is usually better than nothing ... Hardly anyone is devoted to actually being a commander, so you have to fill the job if it's not taken as having no commander usually means losing the round.

I beg to differ, I've often played commander whilst flying and bombing both sucessfully. Granted it was'nt a super busy game though with more than 15 people..but its possible, I've gotten several medals that way. Just because you dont have the skill to do it does'nt mean others cant

But the thing is, you wern't commanding all the time. Thats the role of commander, to keep and eye on enemy movements, tell your team where they are, and order them to do it, you simply cannont do that constantly in a plane, unless your just sat on the runway

I play commander just about whenever i can really, most of the time i will not get in any veichle, except when i need to move posistions, which is not often. Today while commanding, i was at the back base on karkand, accidenlty chose assualt (usually i take spec ops and plant C4 around the flag to defend it) when i noticed no one spawned there, and there was a tank there. I decided to get in it incase any enemies bypas the frontline battle and capture the back, and they did! I stayed in it, kept an eye out for anyone spawning at the back base incase they wanted it, which they did, i think they shot the tank, and i saw those red hitarea things that came up, got out of the tank, ready for them to use.

There are times when a commander needs to use them (ground, no need to fly) but it's quite rare for me to use them.
