Just because you're from Europe and know a moment in history that any normally educated person knows, and know the capital of your country, does not somehow make you an expert on geography nor a history major. This is not directed at Europeans who do not hold these prejudices, but some of you guys need to realize that your feces does not smell sweeter than anyone else's. Hard fact to face, I know.

From what I understand the families of the executed get sent a bill for the bullet(s)? - Nice touch..... I also wonder what happened to the tank driver - never gets mentioned much.
Don't get into a debate on national identities (Denmark/Copenhagen etc) - love your own country and tolerate those who are ignorant about it. Let your actions when overseas educate others - travel will show you why you should love your own country, and hopefully educate you why people love theirs as well. Stop crapping on others because they don't know about you.

Also very true. I missjudged the people in here, though there is probably around 3.000. :P

Its not our fault that "americans" are famus and known by their bad geography.....more than 50% of the americans that answered a study about iraq didn't know to poit its location on a map before war started .........
why is america so tecnologicly advanced .....man ..America is full of european scientists and all that stuff ....robotic arms for the space shuttles are made here in PORTUGAL with our technology....and i bet that most of the americans only know were is portugal because you have a military base in this little country that discovred ALL THE AMERICAN CONTINENT long time ago....~

It's not our fault that the most ignorant among us are the ones always asked to do polls and things like that. Our media likes to make the country as a whole look stupid. You can't believe half of what you hear see or read by the media and never trust what you hear from someone who heard it from someone who may or may not have ever been here

We have very intelligent people here in the US but we also have what is called the silent majority who are the intelligent and the well rounded individuals in this country

I know where Portugal is and could point it out on a map as well as Iraq Iran Afghanistan and most other countries in the world. i find geography interesting and yes i learned all of it in public schools and what i've discovered on my own. Like i said i can point out portugal on a map but i honestly didn't know we had a military base there. It may suprise you to know that our society doesn't revolve around the military most people know very little of what the mititary does simply because we don't parade our military around and drive missiles and rockets through town squares like some other countries.

So next time you go posting stuff about The United Stated please get your facts straight I have never posted anything about the people of Portugal Spain France Germany Italy etc. or their way of life education or any other opinions because i don't know about those things(although i'll make jokes about the french). But there seems to be so many people who talk with authority about my country who have no idea what they are speaking of.

Judging from your post alone, it seems to me that Portuguese people can't spell for crap, nor do they have any advanced grammatical skills. Oh sorry, is that an untrue generalization of the Portuguese citizenry? Exactly my point...

BTW IMO, your country hasn't made any significant historical contributions since the 1500's.
