No F-14????

I am considering to buy BF2, But learned the F-14 isnt in it . Is their anyway of getting it nin the game

Wow, you aren't going to buy the game because there isnt ONE jet in it? And you wanna get the game just to try a manuever you saw in a MOVIE. I'm guessing you aren't over the age of 12.

Well, you could allso complain that the hornet shouldn't be on the ground, but on the carrier, this is my reccommended setup for jets, if only EA would listen:

Carrier
Fighter:F/A18 Hornet
BOmber: F14 Tomcat

Airfield slash VTOL (for the JSF) pad
Fighter: JSF
Bomber F15E Strike Eagle

Because F/a18 and the F14 both currently serve on aircraft carriers, the F15Es only take off from ground. And the JSF isn't even in mass production, it's still in prototype stage, so who knows, that's why i put it on the VTOL pad.

The JSF will replace the F-14 AND the F/A-18.

The timeline of BF2 is around 2007 so F-14 will no longer be in service.
Its a plane from the late 60s, get over it.

this is true.. and one of the things EA got totally right..

in the BF2 time frame (2007+) the F-14 will have been withdrawn from active service.

don't worry tho, this plane will become available at some point via a mod.

Ummm...the F-14 is by no means a bomber.

Although it was designed to be an air superiority fighter, as times and demands changed, the F-14 could be converted to a fighter bomber capable of being fitted with Air-to-Ground weapons and bombing hardware and technology.

Honestly, does the U.S. Navy actually need a fighter that can destroy aircrafts 100 miles away? Has the F-14 ever fired off its Pheonix missle in actual combat?

cruise missiles like the AS-6 Kingfish have ranges in excess of 150 miles (an AMRAAM is 20 miles, a Sparrow is 30 miles), so the further out you can kill your target the better, it only takes 1 cruise missile to give a ship a _really_ bad day.
