it most definitely is stat padding. if you think differently then you are just a ****ing stat padding whore. why else would anyone do it? if it wasn't so easy to get points, no one would be flying around in the bh and going from flag to flag killing stuff with it.
its only because everyone in the damn thing gets tons of points. its blatant stat padding

You're just mad because you don't have points. The Blackhawk is an effective tool for supporting your team if used properly, and I stand by that. Capping flags only is a little lone-wolfish of people, but unless it's an alternating flag cap from both teams on purpose, people hoving in the middle of nowhere and tossing ammo for no reason but for a support person, THEN it's stat padding.

You probably have never ran across a squad in a Blackhawk that hovers near commander assets when an engineer is present to bring them back online, to recover a main base to prevent such from being destroyed, or helping out an assaulted base the team on the ground can't defend in a current situation. These people exist, go look for them.

Again, there are idiots who use the Blackhawk for points. They're not doing a thing for their team, and they're just as easy to get out of the way. EASY to shoot down, most of them don't even know that the minigun they're sitting at is actually operational. It's sad, but true. A lot of Blackhawk crews are oblivious to ANYTHING around them, especially pilots. That's another problem with the n00bification of the Battlefield series, these people can fly without practicing. So these people are even EASIER to shoot down.

It's not that huge of a problem people, learn to try in this game. Just running around like a chicken with it's head cut off isn't going to help, you have to find alternate ways around things until you find a tactic that works. The Blackhawk isn't invincible, and I hope the squads that know what they're doing continue to mow you down after the next patch just so you can continue to whine they're still padding.

In my opinion its stat padding, purely because... i'd rather be fighting against a blackhawk than alongside one. having the oppertunity to kill SEVEN ppl with my launcher or.... having seven lil bitches flying around nulifying any chance i had of gettin Capture points....thts why im not usually USMC!!! period.

Well if you really think about it, the use of the Blackhawk in game is a fairly good representation of how it is used in real life. The whole philosophy behind Air Assault is overwhelming surprise by force, taking ground quickly, and holding it. I've always thought that the BH teams have 2 of the 3 down and only need help from the rest of the team to hold the area.

I'd love to see a well organized team of all squad leaders in a BH. As they take a flag, a squad leader jumps out and the rest of his squad spawns on him and holds the area. Combine that with your armor and other assets rolling up from behind and they'd be pretty much unstoppable.

i've played the game maybe twice in the past month, i don't think i'm too worried about points.

no, i have never run across a bh squad that hovers near the assets to protect them. you know why? because people are too busy whoring up the points and STAT PADDING, thats why. every game i have been in with a BH is just the BH going from flag to flag and capping it. no one stays behind to defend it. its only used to STAT PAD. maybe if you get out of the bh and actually had to deal with one, you might know why tons of people complain about it.

The thing you have to remember is that these things are not invicible. I will be the first to admit that Blackhawks are a huge problem mainly on Mashtuur City. But what people don't realize is that they HAVE to be taken down. You can't ignore them or you will lose.
The best way to take these things down short of a attack helo, Stinger, or a plane is to get in a transport vehicle with a .50 mounted on it, chase after it, and shoot it untill it explodes hopefully with all seven people inside. Aim for the gunner holes on the side to crush those miniguners because we all know that those are one of the Blackhawks biggest threats.
And if you have to run the MEC transport into it like a missle. It's cheap, but hey, so is the Blackhawk.

This is largely true. My bro and I held a point on Maashtur for nearly the entire game against the BH. We had 2 Vodniks. It was to the point that they didn't try to come back to our point.

It was only when the 2 APCs rolled in that we lost, but c'est le guerre.

              J.

This really couldn't be much farther from the truth. In this game, blackhawks are effectively air superiority gunships, and certainly standard procedure in real life when securing an area is not to just hover around it, and hope that any hostiles on the ground wont matter because your six men onboard will cap the flag faster.

Come on, they're transports! When was the last time you saw these things being used to move people from place to place with the intent of dropping them off at some point?

If the patch does, indeed, make a full blackhawk count as only one soldier for flag capping, we should see something a little less uncounterable and a little more "true to life," with soldiers ACTUALLY LEAVING THE TRANSPORT to take a position. I, for one, can't wait.

                  Re: blackhawk whoring question....

I really reek as a BF2 player but even I can fire a round from the grenade launcher right into the cargo bay of a Blackhawk hovering just above me. I've taken out three of four guys at once many a time, and more often than not smoked the 'Hawk to boot.

It seems that many of the "cheats" I read about are teamwork based - a lone guy in the blackhawk is not going to accomplish a lot. It also seems to me that the fixes for these cheats are also teamwork based. For instance, why not defend the flag or man the AA turrets? If that is too boring, why not rotate off defense to offense in turn? If that is too tough to organize, why not join a squad so the commader can direct you? If you don't want to take orders and want to be a Rambo-esque lone wolf, why are you complaining when someone uses teamwork to beat you?

That being said, I do feel for glcm1961's irritation with people who do dicky things that do not help their team. But that, unfortunately, is like complaining about the weather. I personally get annoyed with those who hang around the aircraft spawn points and then teamkill to get whatever pops up.

I just love how everyone who defends the Blackhawk are automatically categorized as a, as you say, "stat padder". Try thinking a little outside that narrow view your mind is showing you and you might see the whole picture here. It's not stat padding, and I spend just as much time brining Blackhawks down as I do in them. And as a pilot, I do my best to get people I trust in the Blackhawk, and we DO repair the commander's assets, we DO help the team, but we do NOT stat pad, I assure you.

Er.... yes it is stat padding, otherwise known as getting as many points in a game as possible without consideration for their teams victory. They do not benifit their team (unless you want to count the sixty seconds or so it takes before the opfor retakes the flag as an opportunity to spawn there, which I suppose is theoritically possible, assuming enough people are spawning during those sixty seconds). To argue that it is not stat padding is being intellectually dishonest and/or ignorant of what takes place in nearly every game. Simply scroll through the games in play and look at the scores. You will most likely see several individuals with ungodly high points while everyone else is way behind in points. Now if the points of these stat padders reflected on the final outcome of the game, then more power to them, but points are gained by taking AND HOLDING flags, and having just lost by over 100 points and having four individuals on my team with over 100 points is not the the exception to the rule, but rather business as usual. Next time you see a blackhawk take and hold a flag, please let me know, because I for one would love to see it.

                        Re: blackhawk whoring question....

the problem with most of the arguments here, is this:

Its a game, not real life.
Its supposed to be fun. And seriously, yes it takes some teamwork to keep the bh up for long periods. And it takes teamwork to bring one down.

However the biggest problems with the thing, is what is being fixed in the upcomming patch.

                        1) longer repair time by the engineers.
Lets face it, in all reality, it really is lame, that 2 guys can sit in the thing and repair it to full health within seconds. I mean, come on, lets all use alittle common sense here. Thats just not right.
                        2) Easy capping, toned down, to slower capping.
Again, lets be reasonable. I have literally, been LEANING on a flagpole as a BH hoovered over me and capped the flag. How it could own the flag, with me standing there is beyond belief. I mean thats pretty silly. And to be able to swoop down and cap a flag within what? I mean a full BH can cap a flag, seriously within 4 seconds. THats kinda.......bad.
First of all that BH is a transport. Not a gunship. And the MEC version of it, i wouldnt even hardly call that a transport. I mean, a few rounds of a pkm pretty much disables it. So, no..the bh in its present state, blows. Come on down from the air..........i want to fight you...........thats online. Thats multiplayer.

There was twelve of us on the ground fighting our asses off - taking flags and holding them - real good battles. Meanwhile, four of our "teammates" were flying a blackhawk from flag to flag. Maddmax was our leading scorer with 120 pts and 3 kills. Ironically, he is awarded with high score under "teamwork" Meanwhile, I have 57 combat points and 27 kills. What did our blackhawk friends accomplish? Absolutely jack sh*t. They got a bunch of points but did nothing to help our team to win. They were warm bodies taking up space that could have been used by a fighting squad to take and hold flags. It sucks. I hate being beat that badly when I know four of our guys are zooming around in a BH, not caring whether or not the flag they just capped gets taken 15 seconds later. It's BS.
They are free to play the game that way, but it's not teamwork, it's getting as many points for their stats as they can. Period.

well whats the difference between them doing that or fighting eachother on the carrier for a goddamn jet. no THAT is really getting old, you see 5 guys on the carrier all pushing eachother around and holding "e" for 1 jet. and then the J10 comes in and....boom goes the dynamite!! lol

Yeah, another problem that's rather out of hand. Any map a Blackhawk is popular in that has jets is always fun to get the J-10 or MiG-29 and target those suckers though. :p

And for those of you who still say it's stat padding, get over yourselves. If you start looking, you'll find Blackhawk crews, yes with probably a high score, but that are looking out for the ground troops as well. If the little game of roullette at the helipad gives a pilot with a head on his shoulders the pilots seat and some gunners with some common sense, your team is in good hands. Even better if the people in the Blackhawk are all in communication with each other. If we could just remove the people with the points-only mentality, the Blackhawk would be a perfect support tool, but more often than not everyone, even the gunners and the pilot, are just along for the ride and rarely do anything to even keep the helo up (such as shoot people with the miniguns, or the pilot just hovers in front of a tank at a flag).
