I also tried that mod and it's a disaster really..

irl, in your precious army, you don't have your commander caught in a lagspike..

irl, you've got this headset and use it (most pubbys don't for some reason so your tank idea basically says 'join a clan or forget about tanks')

irl, you've got a general strategy, with people knowing what to do, where to rendez vous, etc, and tanks, when used in streets, are guarded like the Brittish crown jewels.

irl, you've also have had a training program to learn to work together as a unit.

last but not least, irl, there are such things as shoulder mounted grails and stingers, so those infantry who are babysitting you also can defend you from helicopters and airplanes.

theoretically interesting.. but for BF2? NO WAY!

Christ man, I've read all the posts here, and you talk so much ****. Stop relating everything back to the army. I don't play bf2 for realism (defibs bring people to 100% health?), I play it for fun. I believe Ensemble Studios have a quote like "anything that gets in the way of gameplay should be bound and shot". Put simply, gameplay > realism any day of the week.

you're right, my native language is Dutch, but I speak english as well as anyone.. I doubt you can write texts in Dutch, now can you?

Want a multi-crewed tank? Go play wwiiol and let us keep our nice simple easy-to-use 'casual' tanks in our nice simple easy-to-use 'casual' game.

Even the flight model in this game is incredibly simplified, yet you think for some reason it would make sense to require two people for a tank to function? Its hard enough getting the choppers working right with two people (and they can all function sans-gunners to a decent extent), making a tank RELY on having good communications between two people is nuts in a game like this.

This isn't a reality-based game. It takes a lot of shortcuts in the name of enjoyability. Some are cut too short (like the way guns work when sighted in) but tanks/apcs are just fine as far as what they can do with one person inside, and would be utterly useless if they required a second.

Why in the hell would I want to write Dutch?! I never use it.

I've seen the mod and I have to say it was designed poorly. Very poorly. I could fart a better mod.

Yet another vehicle for all the people too scared to actually play the game. Not a good idea...lets hope they think of ways to get more people OUT of vehicles, not ways to get even more people in to them!

You think it would work in a game where the heli/jet pilot jumps out for no reason or without any warning at all? With people who drive on friendly mines, leave you in the apc when under heavy fire, or kamikazee the jeep your sitting in? I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture.

I think this could be a great idea!

On most pub servers it wouldn't work, but it might work as a server option to add another layer of complexity and teamwork to matches.

I think the idea would work fine. Anyone played Planetside? Most of the MBTs in that game require more than one person to crew effectively. Planetside is much older than BF 2 and still very popular, so obviously they're doing a lot of things right. I played it for a while and enjoyed the vehicle gameplay design.

Of course, I also think that Battlefield 2 has a higher percentage of immature people who want Counter-Strike-like gameplay - and we all know that CS has bred a whole lot of b1tchy, lame little gamers that tend to muck things up.
