9600xt Glitchy

ok i got 1 gb ram 1.7ghz amd xp processor and a radeon 9600xt with all updated drivers.

more often than not it lags for a sec, then my screen gets glitchy....would it be time for a new vid card or something else?

what do yuo have your game settings at?(ie- high,medium,low, or like inbetween)

at first they were at med 1200x700 75mhz refresh
then they were at low 1200x700 60mhz

Did you clean your video drivers before installing the new ones? If not look at the post that is sticked at the top called "Video cards and usefull tools" or something like that, it will walk you through how to PROPERLY install new drivers.

Did you try at lower resolutions? I have the 9800 pro and I run at 800x600 for a consistently smooth frame rate.

Do you have the video card over clocked or no? Does it have artifacts or what is going on? "Glitchy" doesn't tell us much other then something isn't right.

It depends on how savvy you are? If your MOBO + OS is runing ok then upgrade your CPU as 1.7 is min specs for BF2, and if air cooled, well, it will be running well hot and could be your problem as well (heat) "then" look at a vid card.

I was going to say something about heat, depending upon the symptoms. It does sound like it is heat related to me, but certain things can be driver related too.

artifacts yes, thats what they are, and my res was high, maybe i will try it lower, but no its not overclocked......meh this gives me a reason to get a new video card and Processor xD

Well if you're going that route, might as well get a new mobo and things, essentially a whole new system!

But yes, Artifacts definately sounds like a heat problem.

does not happen all the time tho, only sometimes, did not happen last night, happened once when i started playing and then not again.

ok so i dont wanna spend more than $200 on a new card, what would be good to get? i was thinking of a x800xl, that caught my eye and looks pretty good.

I really dont wanna get a new card but i love this game and wanna play, plus i gotta get a new one sooner or later right?
