A bit of a mixed bag..some good news, some so-so and some missing
As a 'infantry' player i am sorta glad to see the changes made to the blackhawk, but moreso the no repair in the air thing, means that it is possible to shoot it down with a couple of successive well placed shots. If you shoot it down the miniguns become pretty useless too . Although i agree that teams should be able to deal with it in it's current setup, unfortunately most people aren't willing to help out taking it down and possibly sacrifice their score a little.
I am happy to see the browser get upgraded as it is fairly poor imho.
I am disappointed to see no mention of nade launchers or bunny hopping. Surely even restricting the assault trooper to only one or possibly two grenades for the launcher would help a bit?? i won't even go into the ways and means of 'fixing' the bunny hopping as it has been mentioned time and time again.
As for the support and medic troops i don't think that will have too big an impact on the non stat padders' scores. If i understand it properly you will continue to gain pts by re-suppplying/healing other troopers but not if you continually and successively just do it to one other player, as in you team up with an anti tank player and for the entire round he/she she constantly fires one rocket and you resupply them ad infinitum....or the whole you shoot him and i'll revive him thing
I did expect a bit more from the patch I would have to say, I would like to hear how many man hours went into it's development and how they were used.:hmm:
If i get it right: One player can only get a certain amount of healing points for healing each player for the whole round??? That kind of sucks, if you are in a squad and healing your teammates.

Good one.... Never noticed a APC or a TANK being repaired in the air.....
Ah yes now i remember.
They had 2 BH versions.
I was in lost village and i was using the minni guns.
They were so weak!!! I hope they dont make them the same as in DC.
Weak?????? People used to do the same circle of death in those blackhawks too. But you had stingers then that ironically with no guidance worked a little better at hitting choppers
i love how they dont actually tell you what has really been changed.
also are all people that have accounts with clan tags screwed since we cant remove the tags but people can now add them. i think this is ******** for those of use that have our main accounts with clan tags. i dont plan on dropping my clan anytime soon but if i ever do i want the ability to keep my points.
thanks for the info we'll see how tweaked the game is when the patch comes out. they better have a full text file of all the changes. :)
Alpha - 2 Sept

Wake Island· In a surprise move, forces of the People's Liberation Army have attacked and captured Wake Island in a bid to threaten US lines of supply. USMC forces have been short-stopped from their deployment in Manchuria to respond to this new threat. The airbase on Wake Island is the lynchpin of the Chinese air threat, however it is highly susceptible to ground attack from either the northern
Compare Feature· By clicking the COMPARE button in BFHQ, you can search for another players name and load their current stats into BFHQ. Using the arrow buttons next to the name in the top-left corner of the menu, you can toggle between your stats and their stats. You can also load a player's stats by double-clicking on their name in any leaderboard.
Favorites/History· There is a new tab in the MULTIPLAYER menu that holds a list of the last 20 internet servers you have connected to, plus a list of servers you have selected as favorites.
BF2 Account Tag · You can add a 6-character prefix to your account nickname which will be displayed in-game next to your nametag in the scoresheet, in game messages, and above your player. This prefix does not change your account name or statistic information (e.g. the prefix does not appear next to your name on the leaderboards). You can change this prefix at any time at the account login menu.
Server Reserved Slots· Server admins can define a list of player BF2 account names which will reserve VIP slots on the server.
Engineer/Helicopter· Modified the rate at which engineer can repair a helicopter while sitting in the helicopter. It now takes longer for the engineer to repair the helicopter.
Vehicle/Control Point Capture· Only one person in a vehicle counts towards a control point capture. If passengers want to increase the rate of the flag change, they must disembark from the vehicle.
Vehicle/Soldier interaction· Improved physics of vehicles against soldiers so that soldiers are not as easily killed by moving vehicles. Bring on the wing-walkers!
Auto Balance· Auto team balance no longer moves the commander or squad leaders to the other team.
Point Farming· Limits placed on ability to point farm.
Rank/Awards· Criteria for gaining ranks and awards has been changed.
Supply Drop· The commander's supply drop now has an icon on the minimap and a 3D-map icon in the world.
Some more info, please treat as rumour:
Supply Drop· The commander's supply drop now has an icon on the minimap and a 3D-map icon in the world.
Why in the hell was this not included in the original release? Did they think everyone would be able to find a random box SOMEWHERE ON THE MAP without some sort of on-screen icon?
Finally. It'll be interesting to see what else they come up with.
All of this talk of what's in the next patch is useless and only servers to stir people up. Any hints expressed by whoever wrote them will only be portraying what the current version of the beta patch is at that time and may not portray what the end result will be, i.e version 1.03.1, will not be the same as 1.03.2, will not be the same as 1.03.3, etc. etc., etc.

The primary reason to put stock in news from an official source is that you can be almost 100% certain it is totally accurate. Information given out during early to mid stages of development of a patch, game, demo or whatever tend to be inaccurate when compared with the final release, so we always wait to give you information until we're as certain as possible it is accurate.
Release dates are exactly the same in this respect. Any date we gave you now would undoubtedly be wrong, and while the wait is frustrating it is better not to be given incorrect information. We will however confirm the stage the patch is at, and at present it's in the mid stages of development.
This means that they've identified the majority of the issues which will be fixed and have got a decent way through the final patch list. There is refinement and improvement to go yet, before it is finalised and tested. Once it's through all of that it'll be released.
I for one would very much like to give you a 100% accurate list of fixes with a 100% accurate release date, but that's not information we have. We've seen proposed fix lists and potential changes but to release those in any official capacity would be misleading, so for the time being we cannot confirm any of the changes you may have seen on unofficial sites.
Again, apologies for the delay and I understand the frustration at a lack of concrete information.

Actually we've done all you mention already.
Sentience and myself are here to monitor collect feedback and make sure the right people hear about it. We also ran a series of a dozen or so polls a week back with regards to the direction the BF community want the game to move in.
As far as telling you what has been fixed so far, it can't be done. I stated in my post above, we won't release any information until we're 100% certain it's going to be in the patch, and we've seen in the past elements which have been worked on extensively only to be dropped at the last minute. We do not want to artificially alter your expectations of the patch as it does neither you nor us any favours in the long run.
The laser-designator example is a very good one. It was designed into the game from the beginning but only during extensive testing was it found to be flawed (no fun to use).
There's a delicate balance to be gained between the game everyone is mostly enjoying at the moment and alterations which will affect that enjoyment. Taking out vehicular flag captures may appeal to some, but there are others who use it extensively and get a great deal of enjoyment from playing that way, so rather than swing one way or another a balance is found. What that balance is we can't say with 100% certainty right now, but that's the level of attention that needs to be paid to gameplay changes.
We'll update with more information as soon as we have it.

Hard to believe,
I'm even more surprise that EA/Dice didn't replace it by a simple function for squad leader such as request airstrike that could be seen pilot.
