I hope they fix the air to air missiles. It's annoying to be really close to an enemy aircraft with a lock-on, fire the missile and watch it miss completely then fly off half way across the map to damage or blow up a friendly transport chopper full the brim of very unforgiving players...

Oh how I hope this is so Right, I cant wait for them to bring the FUN back into the game. The realism equals itself out when you think about it, less realistic with toned down miniguns but much MORE realistic with in-flight repair removed. You will all get used to the changes in no time, that is if you have played the other sides half as much as you have played USMC.

It will be fun when us that wanted the BH changed can call those few supporters of its current dominance the "whiners" after its changed or is made more official at least. After all can't you just live with the way they are making the game (twisted your own argument round there didnt i  )

The changes to the medic/support class points i can't see making too much difference really to gameplay, sure there are a few stat whores out there (the ones we all want to stop) but who wouldnt play medic or revive a fallen team mate just because your points are limited? Most people play the classes because they enjoy that style of play while they are playing the kit not to mop up points. If you play with people whos game style would be affected by this change in points acrued then i suggest finding better people to play with

If they do this to the BH you will see way less engineers

For all we know this could be from one of the whinny lil kids complaining about oooooo the big bad BH shot me cuz i was bunny hopping around in front of him instead of hiding when I heard the chopper coming...ya know much like ya do when you hear a tank coming and your a medic.....
Those are wannabe engineers, real engineers are the 2 engineers, each in a tank/APC that stick together and repair each other by being close and roll over every flag on a map.

I might get flamed but if this source is reliable than Oct. is UNFORGIVABLE, I dont care if it has 3000 fixes in it.... it is a sign of a horrible dev team (dice)

Hopefully its not JUST the BH that can't repair in the air and hopefully all vehicles can't repair in the air. If your going to do it to one you have to do it to all.

                Re: New v1.03 info

Ok, so another v1.03 info leak thread says that in-flight transport repairs will be SLOWER than before. They might not be eliminating it.

I agree that some repairs should be allowed...it's a Battlefield game after all

And once the OTHER changes comes into play:
-a full vehicle counts as 1 player when capping a flag, players must disembark to increase the flag cap speed
                -decreased power of mini-guns

..then only truly dedicated BH pilots and crew will be flying them. People who TRULY enjoy transport choppers. Transport choppers are for getting troops from a base into the battlefield, then dropping them off and the pilot goes back for more or he goes on to where he is needed...a troop needing a medic, etc.

Right now, people who like a 'god-mode' vehicle and 200+ score per round are upset...people who like fairness are happy.

Sure they will be used less but THAT IS THE POINT. Right now, they are the MOST desireable vehicle on the battlefield, and even moreso on specific maps. What does that tell you? It's imbalanced, that's what. We all knew a BH tweak was coming.

Yeah thats true but of course if they delay it again you can just say "Dec's only 3 weeks away"

Remember they made a big deal talking about how they care and BF2 isnt how they want it and their support hasnt been how they want it, they said at the end of Aug.

Wouldnt be so bad if they didnt give us this song and dance about how they care and that BF2 and their support to it hasnt been up to their high standards. I mean come on dont say it Dice, act on it. Show us you are not a second rate company.

Oh yeah the phantom repair cuz an engy is sitting in a tank next to a apc thats way more realistic then repairing in air...at least in air the guy is turning a wrench and cant fire a weapon....Think about it...your telling me that a real life blackhawk crew wouldnt try to patch something up if they could...seriously...

random question but is BF2 the first BF game ine the series you ever played?

But yeah I love how you compare just sitting in a tank and repairing the APC to a guy using a wrench in a open seat of a BH...and who are you calling a "WHORE" again

I mean seriously folks think about what you are saying....

More than 160 server- and clientside bugfixes.

I would like to see the entire list. What DICE and EA think are small and insignificant to them may not be to the end user. Some of the “smaller” issues may be significant for some users. Hey EA .. I know you read this blog. Please send me a list and I will post it. I promise.

New server browser includes a favorites list and history list for an overview of your last visited servers. There are also better filter options.

This is good news, but the browser will have to be better than BF2 Autoloader, which is an absolute necessity. It is a great program, and the guys who made it have done a great job! If they can’t surpass the quality of BF2AL, they might as well focus on another project.

Squad leaders get notified when someone wants to join their locked squad.

Not sure of the significance of this. Squad is locked for a reason. But, OK. I know when I lock my squad, I don’t want anyone else in… When I want to create a squad with certain people in it, we speak on the phone or via e-mail prior to getting in the game. Furthermore, as squad leader, you can kick people out. So … OK!

Spec Ops get points for destroying enemy assets.

This is a good move. If you’re like me, you hate artillery, and the sooner it gets knocked out, the better. This makes me want to play the SpecOps kit more now. C4, baby! Breakfast of Champions, tools of the Jihad!

Support, Medic and Engineer class get a limit on their teamscore for each player. This is to prevent stat farming.

Aww yeah. I’ve seen this many times. However, I do believe that instead of limiting the number of times you can heal a person, they should make it where you can only heal that person X times in a certain time frame. (i.e. 2 times per 5 minutes). Anyone who pads stats in this manner is probably a bunny hopper anyway and should be banned. :)

You can see who are sitting in a vehicle with you, and you can see which kit they use.

This is going to be especially helpful in a chopper. I am not sure what other scenario it will work in, but this is a good move. In a chopper, you need a medic, two engineers (until the patch comes out) a supply guy, etc … It’s teamwork. If someone isn’t pulling their weight, you can tell them to move along! Nobody is along for the ride!

The way teamkills are registered and handled will be changed. For example: If you take down a black hawk (enemy) and it crashes into a teammate, it doesn’t count as a teamkill.

There MUST be more to this that we’re not being told. What about intentional TK’s, or accidental TK’s? As I’ve stated before, 99% of the TK’s are accidents, and should not be punished. Yet there are some that insist on doing it because they are morons. I would like to hear more on this. We’ve heard a lot about TK’s being addressed. What more are they going to do? Hopefully eliminate it.

The way transport helicopters work will be changed. The Blackhawk will get less powerful miniguns, and it’ll no longer be possible to repair the BH from the inside.

This is OK, I think. My other suggestion was to put a gas tank on the chopper (so to speak) and have it allocated 10 minutes of fuel before being required to go back to get more gas. But I suppose my option and their “fix” will limit the air time for the flying tank with the cosmic rays of death. If the guns are going to be changed, I hope the same guns are used in the BH that are used on the HUMVEE. It’s a nice gun and more realistic. Making the chopper NOT fixable in the air will put a lot of engineers out of work. I think it should be fixable, but maybe at a slower rate. That would cause more teamwork to happen. It you don’t have 2 engineers on the chopper, you don’t fix as fast.

So goes my highly scientific analysis of this subject. I hope you enjoyed it.

I too am eager to see the Blackhawk's return to what it truly is, a troop transport helicopter, and not the "uber-flag capping wings of death".

Yes, but as the patch is not likely to come out before 2007, you don't have much to worry about.

Actually, I'd love to play support, if they'd fix the weapons. It was my fav/best kit in DC.
