I have an mx 510 also, it works great. Although, you should consider getting the Logitech G5, instead of the mx510 or mx518. It's laser and it has adjustable weight cartidges. Link for G5 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10715

I think your avatar tells why!!

MX518 pwnz j00! The ability to change sensitivity on the fly is incredibly useful!

Just trying to spread the word

I nearly returned my mouse to the store until I found these apps.

What do these do? im considering either the MX518 or the MX1000, my friend has the MX1000 and its amazing, never screws up, never runs out of battery, comfortable and tonnes of buttons.
But i'm not sure, its only £15 extra for the MX1000

                  These apps allow you to:

                  a) map button configurations that are application specific (it detects which .exe is running and applies the settings automagically)

                  and

                  b) map some actions to your mouse buttons that you would not be able to otherwise (e.g. key combos, special functions like minimize all)

UberOptions simply beefs up the Logitech settings panel with extra options and features.

LogiGamer is a brand new apps that is more advanced...but can cause issues (.net required)

I have both, the 510 & the 518.. I think the performance difference is impossible to detect. buy the 510. I'm gonna buy a couple more next time I see a deal on them, simply because I cant bare the idea of not having them around for a long time to come. :) Only thing I like better about the 518 is the color.

                      cheers
the 518 allows realtime swich of dpi in game
not sure if 510 does that or not
that (dpi switch) is GREAT feature

I have the 510 and love it. By the way, have any of you 510 owners figured out how to map the buttons above/below the scroll wheel? I read the post about controls.con but couldn't figure it out.

they should work just like any other button/key in controls setup

                              yeppers..

                              open your mouse properties

                              select button tabs

then select the buttons you wish to assign
                              click modify

                              select the function "keystroke"

and in the bottom blank line press the key you wish to assign..

apply (remember to do this each time you assign a button!!!!)

I have the 510 and I love it and it definitely helped.

However, I have been noticing that I don't move as smoothly over my mousepad as I would like. There is too much friction. This has definitely screwed me in the game a bunch of times.

I was wondering what kind of mousepads people use. . .mousepads with high slick surfaces.
