I would use it but everytime I get it working. I get in game say two words and it stops. Go back into the menu, un-enabled again. SO F it. If its such a piece of crap I will use TS with my clan/buddies. Its too bad though...its such a good idea I loved playing DOD jumping into a server and getting some true communication going on.

This is true. It happens on our server for no reason all the time.
Sometimes voip will work and other times it won't.

I think it must be a bug because you can still see the icon but no one can hear you and you can't hear other people. It works only about 10% of the time.

The other night I joined a squad and proceeded to use the voip but was immediately kicked off of the squad for doing so...granted I was singing the "Hated Milk Machine" song from Mr. Show.

So u guys wanna play sometime cuz a massive squad can change the everything pwning it up and getting points by teamwork and communication, so if you guys are down...

I'm sorry, but I just find that incredibly rude. So you'll kick a guy that is playing well with the team simply because he doesn't feel like shrieking into a mic or hearing other's pubescent voices? Give me a break.

Sorry if this was mentioned already, but you can never say it too many times anyway.

As far as problems with VOIP working I have found with all our members and guests that have had problems they have all had one thing in common. They had a router. And each and everyone of them fixed it when we told them what ports they had to open up (at least on our servers). I'm no techie but if you are having problems look into what ports are used most commonly on the servers you frequent. They may post that info on their web page. Maybe they have a common range of ports you have to get opened. That's where I'd start looking if you really need this feature to work. I can't live without it. Ventrilo and TS are good in a pinch, but with big groups, you never know who is talking. With in-game VOIP, you do and I find that is huge.

Getting back on original topic, there may be some people too shy to talk or maybe they are just sparing you their family background noise, like siblings/parents arguing etc.

On the other hand, we had a guy in our squad the other day who was singing to us every so often, he wasn't shy at all but man was he a bad singer. :)

I prefer to talk on TS, VOIP makes my game lag and it sounds rubbish.

I use it but the person who said it doesnt always work is right, the VoIP is all messed up. Sometimes it works and other times it doesnt and then there is the who game muting your mic and such.

I bet 80% of the time its because the mics are not working.

I don't use VOIP unless someone talks to me on it first.. I just find myself feeling stupid when I talk to people who don't respond. Most of the time I'm talking on teamspeak anyways.

I heard this kid one time saying stuff like "go go go" and "take cover". It was painful...

TS does also allow talking to multiple rooms its called channel commander and works extremely well. I find the voip buggy, and of crap quality, it also does not work between rounds, one good feature however with voip is the diming of the sounds.

But its not worth all the other features TS has.

I will actually look out for folks I know use VoIP, and try and join their squads. It really enhances the game experience for me - it reminds you that you are actually playing with/against real people.

Even if the squad is not bunched up together, it can still make a huge difference. For example, one person flying a jet, a couple of people defending the airfield and another couple pushing up with some armour is great. You can communicate and keep everyone informed about the enemy movements across the map.
"I just scared the black hawk away from the airfield, its heading over to the northern flag!" .... then watch the jet hunt it down and finish it off!

I try not to talk about rubbish on VoIP - stick to game related stuff.
When someone joins my squad, usually a "G'day xxxxxxxxx, howsitgarn?" will break the ice and get people using their mic, or at least discover if they can hear you at least.
