Im glad people dont talk, atleast in cs it gets really really annoying with people screaming and swearing and stuff.. but I guess it wouldnt be so bad in bf2 since it probably has more mature people playing it.

Hearing little kids with pre-pubescant voices giving me orders just doesn't sound right lol.

But my family really finds it weird that I talk to people. Even with my friends on skype or something. Plus in this house, sound travels through walls like a hot knife through butter so everyone can hear it no matter where and it starts to annoy them so I don't bother unless it's friends or a once in a lifetime extremely good squad or such.

I´ll respond if someone asks but im shy cause english is not my mother language. And even though i can speak it fluently with a bit of accent im not sure if it sounds totally cool so...

It's kinda funny, because even though I have no problem with public speaking, have given public speeches in front of large audiences, hosted a radio show for three years, MC'd concerts with thousands of people... I get a little shy on BF2. "Hey, there's um... tank, southeast flag... the one with the um..."

Maybe it would help a little if there were better base names or numbers. Really though, I just wish there was some test feature that would let me hear what my mic sounded like while trying to configure it. I think mine sounds scratchy or something and people can't understand me.

And my wife came in once and said, "are you talking to your computer? geek."

Yes its true, someone has to speak first then others start talking.. Usually happnes 80
% of the time with me when im on a server..

Thats the problem. The mic can work in every other game, but in BF2 it won't.

That's why people aren't using it.

Yeah, the sound quality sucks bad on it. Of course it may also be how the people have set it up. Most times when people talk its very dim or jumbled. I actually got in a squad yesterday with one guy & he was flying the attack chopper & asked me to get in. I have never gunned in one yet, cause for one thing most people have their buddies gun. He was the first guy that I could actually understand on VIOP. He was showing me about the guided TV missiles. Which I might say was pretty sweet. I sucked at it but the fact that he talked on VIOP & allowed me to gun for him was greatly appreciated. I just wish I was better cause he was a greeat heli pilot. Since then I have been looking at the strategy guide from Primo to learn where all the AA implacements are. lol Thats a must for a gunner. sorry about jumping off track. I mainly use Ventrillo for chatting, plus the B button is hard to hit while I am in battle. I will probably get the MX1000 wireless mouse soon, then I can just config the chat buttons on the mouse. Rock On!

i have and use a mic in BF2, but only when there is someone else on the server that has one and is using it aswell. otherwise i feel sort of dumb talking to a wall or something, if they cant talk back.

Have to say I use my mic all the time however I don't use the game chat.I tend to use skype alongside BF2.It's not that I don't want everyone to know what we're planning it's more a case of not wanting to flood the server with in their eyes pointless waffle.I'm sure we are not the only ones as seeing how quick a 4-5 man opposition squad can organise a plan to be attacking or 2-3 fronts would be impossible by typing on a non voip server

when i play with my friend i always use ventrilo, because that way you can talk to them even when a new map is loadning or if someones CTD's or something, but if some other guys join or squad we switch to the built in voip... if you want people with a mic to join you squad you can always name it "ENG VOIP" or something similar...
