no, it can't take down a helecoptor or even a jeep for that matter.

about 40 bullets from the pkm can hardly take out 1 bar from a blackhawk. If you spray at a vodnik or hummer it will get away long before you even get it to half health.

Yeah, a ton of unlocks are controversial. Here's a list of each:

G3: love/hate
M95: mostly hate, some love
L85A1: love/hate
PKM: mostly love, some hate.
Jackhammer: mostly hate, some love
DAO-12: love/hate
G36C: Almost all love.

LOL what are you talking about?? ive take down choppers and Vodniks with ease... well the pilots of the chopper anyway...and as far as the overall value of the PKM is is "ok" Yes it is a better unlock than the other support classes but it still has its flaws: accuracy(actually not too bad :p ) and the whole prone out and shoot deal. If you play as a squad though with people PKM= Ownage!:evil:

i mean, you have to go prone and THEN fire and the whole action takes about 3-4 seconds. by that time, you're dead. sure, it packs a LOT of firepower but i'm going back to the stock support weapon.

3-4 seconds? I always get killed in an alleyway by some guy who instantly dives on the ground as soon as he sees me and blasts me with 2 or 3 shots. Of course, that only happened when I was going for my expert knife badge...

The PKM was my first unlock, been using it ever since.

1) Assault / Medic / Spec Forces don't stand a chance against it if you know how to use it. Most people who complain don't know how to use it.

2) You are only accurate if prone and aiming, usually, unless you are at close range. But if it takes you 3 - 4 seconds to go prone and aim, then you definitely have bigger issues than the PKM, mostly reflexes and KB mapping :) Takes me a second, tops.

3) It is a damage beast when you learn to use it. Just aim and pull the trigger, people die. It's great :) And it takes a while to run through your belt.

4) Yes, it CAN take out jeeps, usually takes 3/4 of a belt though. As for choppers, you don't need to make the thing explode (I've only taken out a 'hawk once with it, but it was already heavily damaged). Just spray the choppers crew. It goes through glass. More than once I have taken out the pilot and just watched the chopper crash with a crew inside. Quite amusing :)

As a support weapon, it is unbeatable. Highly recommended.

I unlocked the PKM as well...it takes a good while to figure it out. Where you aim isn't always where the bullets go, as even with small bursts, the gun really rakes upwards. Aka fire slightly below where you want to hit, and the recoil seems to throw the bullets right where you want.

Took me about 150 deaths to figure that out =/.

Like Glasseye said, it takes 600 rounds from the PKM to down a chopper. I created a local server on the demo with weapon unlocks, i used the PKM against a BH, after 300 rounds into that thing, i got into the BH to see how much damage it had done, about half of the things health. Then it auto-repaired in about 2 seconds. But a 50 cal against a BH, takes it down in 5-7 seconds. PKm is pretty good at taking out jeeps, but not great.

I unlocked the pkm and I really hate it, I have no idea why so many people love it.

1. It looks really ghetto and poorly modeled
2. It fires extremely slow
3. It is extremely inaccurate

I can own anyone holding a pkm with my SAW/RPK anyday.

thats because the PKM is not for everyone -- i am an ardent supporter of it -- it owns -- and yeah it looks ghetto -- thats the way it should be -- the personal killing machine -- and just the sound makes people run for cover
