True, climbing the ranks does take a tremendous amount of time, but I would rather work for the rank and earn it playing the game the way it's supposed to be played.

I could do this all day and get a really high rank, but would I have earned it....nope.


And what do I get, a slightly better weapon and a new chevron on my rank avatar. The time spent doing the above could have been spent playing the game properly, and it won't get my stats wiped.

Have you ever tried it?
It's a lot more dificult than playing on regular servers (and if the server has good admins, like the [9MM] servers had, the scores are similar to regular Strike at karkand maps.)

Nope I didn't fancy it, it's not how I imagine the game should be played. For fun and all it's great, but not an honest way to earn rank in my opinion.
And I never will, it's not allowed anymore...

I'll take your word for it though, I mean I have no problems with it or anything, but EA does, which means no more of that.

When played with revives not allowed in mass it plays just like a normal game aswell as point wise as well as time.

i dont get it,why not leave them be? if you play and get your scores in a legit way, then fell proud, and if you see those stat padders, then you know they didnt earn it, how does it affect the game in anyway?? and basically, you can still play these type of games in a ranked server, but it wont be recorded right??

I heard about these and checked it out last week for 2 rounds. There are some out there that were breeding grounds for padding (I saw one where the 1st place guy had over 350 pts) but most of them are just good clean fun. I thought it was really hard to knife people even with only knives and pistols. People pretty much leapfrog and jump all over. Shock paddles work so much better than knives anyway. To be honest the scores were about the same for an Karkand map outside of the one previously mentioned. I can see how this can be quite abusive though. Techniquely the pistol and knife badge are needed to obtain a medal and a rank and being able to get them through an easy method than a normal game gives reason for shutting them down. However I have seen and reported stat padding in normal servers (took screenshots of 2 guys on Monday doing ammo trick) and everyone knows the revive/knife trick). I had a hard as heck time getting my knife. I had about 60-70 kills before I got 7 in one round so I ended up with verteran. Same goes for pistol I had over 50 at the time I got it. In the end it is EA's game and we all agree to some portion that the pistol/knife servers have been abused repeatedly for stat padding due to their nature.

Stat padding is still stat padding no matter which way you look at it, and that’s what these servers are about, nothing more.

If you like they game play on these servers, then your still free to play on them, you just wont be awarded any medals or points on the global ranking (and because your NOT stat padding you just enjoying the still of game play this wont bother you at all, YEAH RIGHT).

What EA are trying to do is create a level playing field for ALL USERS.

I for one appreciate the effort EA are going to. I'll EARN my pistol and knife badge, and every other badge for that matter the legitimate way.

Like it or not, you break any EULA conditions that EA imposes on any of their copyrighted products, they'll come down on you like a ton of bricks. Their issue with the whole knife/pistol/defib servers has been that people playing on these type of ranked servers gain an unfair advantage in earning an obscene amount of points, which could be, in their eyes tantamount to stat padding.

So what attracts people to these type of ranked servers anyhow ?

Is it the fact they are there to have fun or to earn more points and gain extra badges that they might not otherwise get in a server that has a level playing field ?

I'll probably be flamed for this, but EA made the right call in their actions on this occasion. All ranked servers should and must offer the same level playing field for all with an equal opportunity for all players to earn points based on their ability to compete against each other in a 'fair' manner.
If you want to play stab/fix/pistol whip go and do it on an unranked server which does not have any restrictions on set up....yet.

I agree Vulcan, if you like this kind of thing, EA isn't stopping you doing it, just don't do it on ranked servers, of which they have control and can tell you what you can and cannot do on them.

Playing on Knife & Pistol Servers is like smoking pot. Sure it's fun, and for the most part, harmless. But, do it in front of a cop and your gonna get busted. And don't cry saying you didn't know it was illegal. C'mon we all know better..

I think I saw in another post someone put out the idea that if people were just doing it for fun, wouldnt we see a bunch of ranked "no vehicle" rules maps. Imagine karkand with no tanks/apcs.... nice! But because it doesn't bring more points.....

If you want to play on these type servers, just do it on unranked ones. And if you played on one for more than 10 minutes, I hope your stats are reset. If you hosted one, I hope your "ranked" status is pulled. You knew what you were doing. We all did. Don't try to sugar coat it because it's "fun" or that it "takes more skill" (more skill to kill someone... maybe, more skill knife kill on a knife server than knife kill on a regular server.... definately not), or that you just wanted to "check it out"

Besides most people complaing about EA being "Nazis" are the ones advocating that stats don't matter... so what do they care anyway?

Any extra "rules" outside EA's in-game implentation on ranked servers (barring certain etiquette .. ie. no cussing) is usually just BS from power hungry admins trying to stat pad or give unfair advatages to themselves and like minded yahoos.

I'm gonna call them on this bluff/fake notice or whatever, they do not have the resource's to handle the true regular statpadder that everyone complains about everyday, they will not have the manpower to take these evil h@x0r knife pistol servers down...

It would be all too easy for them to track these type of servers, not matter how hard you try and hide them from EA. All they have to do is to look at groups of players stats and the amount of points earnt on each server round. It would stick out like dog's nuts.

yes they would stick out and peronsaly i think they should have hope right on this right when these servers came out.

If these people really like these server why dont they go play on unranked server. The whole point of ranked server is to match your points to other players to see how good you are or how well you match up to them. You know they keep stats for football and stuff like that for the same reason. So you have and idea of how good ppl are before you play them.
