most players are idiots. trying to play as a team will only end up w/ you wondering where your support got to.

I play a lot as lone wolf, so what ?

Most squads suck hard at teamwork and do nothing usefull, and as a lmonewolf ,it doesn't mean you aren't a teamplayer, I still help people out, run togheter with other guys to a point back eachother up,heal, support, ....

I'm guilty of being a squad whore. I'm in a squad 90% of the time. I think it's important to have that communication with the commander and teamwork with the players. Also that squad leader spawn point is really valuable. If I'm in a loner mode I'll still be in squads but not be loyal to them. I'll squad hop to help others with flags or destroy something. I play to win every round.

Commanders can see lone wolves, as best I can remember. They just can't give them orders, either directly or indirectly through the squad leader.

I usually join a squad, see if it's good and if it is then I stay (Obviously) I don't usually do good as a Lone Wolf, because I can't spawn next to my allies and I'm all by myself, getting myself killed. I'd say Im more of a teamplayer, whether the squad sucks, or not I'm there to help and have a good time playing the game.

I like squad play and think it enhances the game. However, most squads are not together, leader tends to be in a tank....

Just need to find those interested in squad play short of joining a clan.

Re: why don't people join squads?

I usually join squads or lead them. I like to them a squad when the squad sticks together.

I usually flag hop with my squad or defend one important one (Like the air field flag). What I don't like is when I am issuing my squad orders and then the crap commanders go ahead and send me the same orders I have already given. I mean, why do this? Is it for points? Do they not get points if I send my squad places and do things instead of him sending me those orders first?

I don't use my mic for BF2, I do use it for TS tho.. for some reason I get problems with BF2 that I do not get with TS or Vent

Re: why don't people join squads?

I can think of several reasons why:

                    1. Idiot Commander: Sending a far squad across the map to hit a point that a closer squad could get sooner. Not responding to requests for Artillery, UAV, or just a scan. Commander in aircraft. Not being careful with Artillery. Not being careful with drops. Not thinking strategically, in terms of the whole map.

                    2. Idiot Squadleader. Giving squad an order, then running off to do something else. For example, gives an order to defend main MEC on Karkand, then drives off with tank FTW. Squad Leader in tank. Squad Leader not communicating with squad members. Squad Leader not taking initiative in the absence of orders. Squad leader not leading the way and setting the example. Squad Leader not taking on legitimate orders from commander. Squad leader not thinking tactically.

                    3. Idiot Squad Members: Not listening to orders. Not sticking with team. Not picking kits that support the team as a whole. Not performing role that kits are designed for (i.e. healing squad members as a medic). Not supporting each other with tactical means (cover fire, smoke grenades, etc). Refusing reasonable requests like defending flags. Not communicating with each other.

Sometimes it's just better to go it alone.

                    J.

I don't understand why you would choose to be a lone wolf if you can get an extra spawn point by joining a squad. If none of the squads are working together, might as well join one and be able to spawn on the squad leader, and in all other respects be a lone wolf. It can't hurt.

Because they're afraid they'll get a commander like this:

#1 I can't defend if I'm in a squad. Squads attack, but are completely & totally useless defending - people won't stand around for 10 minutes, they'll get a rubbish score, they'll get bored, and you'll get repeatedly hit by artillery... (you also can't rig the place with C4, spam a flag with grenades, and you're LESS likely to get a passing tank help you out if there are several people at the flag).
#2 You'll usually have at least 1 person per squad in an APC/tank - and that vehicle is probably best used 'somewhere other' than your squad's objective. They either stick with you, and waste the vehicle [or] wander off, and wonder why the heck they're in a squad...
#3 Squads encourage 'flag-hopping'. As a squad-leader, people measure success by 'points gained' - the best way to do that is by capturing flags. Unfortunately, that has very little to do with 'winning the game'.
I hear ya, it's so damn annoying when playing as a squadleader and giving out a order to defend a position, to then later have the teammates run away and keep pushing the new orders button...

And another thing, if you finally find a good squad Then most of the time it's some clan, that will tell you to **** off, and leave room for another clanmate...
