Re: Before you bitch how bad this game is, remember...

Internal testing is no where near good enough to get a good feel for the game. Especially one as complex as this. Also, EA rushed DICE into releasing the game before they were comfortable (atleast that my feeling) because EA didn't want to be like Valve and delay their game, and keep pushing the date back. But I agree it could have been delayed. But it wasn't so life goes on.

Need I remind you how buggy and "crappy" BF1942 was. Hell most of the people here I bet never played BF1942 until everything was fixed, so they didn't know the half of it.

Like BF2, BF1942 was very buggy, many exploits, and there was a TON of trouble playing it online. From lag to, yes, even disconnects, BF1942 was pretty bad when it was first released. However in time EA/DICE worked out all the bugs, and eventually made a very nice platform for classic mods such as Desert Combat (and NO this did not launch EA to make BF2, BF2 was a scheduled game 5 years ago when EA/DICE signed their deal).

So please, before you bitch and complain, you have to realise how ground breaking this game is (just as BF1942 was for its day). Then also realise, that the game WILL be fixed. It just a matter of time. Although v1.03 wasn't released by its target date of August 31, I would much rather have it delayed then have an incomplete patch.

It isn't as easy as you people think. It isn't like C++ or Java, anything that simple, where they can just look at the code, fix one thing, and walla no more problems. They have to go through literally millions upon millions of line of code, to see if they can pin point a problem. Then they have to try a fix, and see if it works. And if it does work, does it create other problems else where?

Trust me, these guys work hard to keep us, the community happy, and yet some people seem not to appreciated that.

I for one appreciated everything EA/DICE has done this thus far in supporting this game, and I would easily buy another Battlefield series game.
      Spot on dude!

This engine was built completely from scratch exclusively for this game. So while yes, it may not have been AS buggy, remember the engine was in use prior to that game. This one had not.

Also from the start EA/DICE warned people that BF2 was going to take full use of new technologies. It isn't their fault people don't read system requirements (or believe them).
The BF2 engine is the same dam engine of 1942 , with the difference it can handle much more textures and they used some new technologies. those new technologies are also used by other games that came out already and will come out, but those others put in the older technologies also in it, so that users of lower graded or older vid cards still can play the game. So if you have a card who supports the tech, it will run the new tech, if not, it will run the old tech.
The basic of the engine works exactly the same as the BF1942 engine, nothing newbreaking about the BF2 engine.
This is the reason why this engine uses so much RAM , because it's an older engine who is pushed to the limit.

And things like crashing to desktop, memory leaks are things they should have seen while testing, since the half comunity had problems with it.

Also things like when you get switched team and your teammates are tagged red, enemy's are blue, this is a netcode problem what they should had noticed in the testing period. Never seen a problem like this, even not in CS 1.6 what is like 5 years old.

My point beeing, there where lots of bugs, and real big bugs, that I am shure they knew about it but still they put the game on the market and say it's gold

It isn't the same engine. It maybe greatly simular, but it isn't the RedFaction3, trust me. BFV pushed it to the breaking point which is why it was such a bad game.

So EA's idea is to reinvent the wheel with every game rather than learn from previous mistakes when it comes to bugs and other issues. The major problem here is that "we" are the idiots to blame because we reward their haphazard coding by purchasing the game as soon as it's out. I'm sure they'll probably fix most of the bugs but what's the rush for them...they've got their money.

I really like BF2 and I enjoy playing it but no other game I've ever played has been so buggy or problematic (not even BF1942). I've also never witnessed the number of people reporting major issues as I have in this forum...it's quite a shock.

Sorry to rain on your parade but I disagree with your post. I believe people do have a right to complain when a product comes down the pipeline and the code is crap. I hated waiting for HL2 but I think in the end I was much happier getting a game that ran very well than buggy code and crashes. I probably would have been just as happy to wait until all of the bugs were worked out of BF2.

That said, I'll continue to play BF2 and put up with the issues but I just don't play as much as I'd like to. I'm really hoping that EA/DICE outdo themselves with the 1.03 patch and fix the heck out of the bugs in this game because it really is great!

I totally agree. Once you have got rid of all the problems and started to play it is dangerously fun! Yesterday, for the first time I could play on ranked servers (after fixing the patch, thx again GreatWhiteShark) and I just had to play more and more, in order to get a rank :p

This is simply a great game that will get better, having spent many of my formative years playing in arcades (Remember paying 10p for bat and ball and thinking dragons lair was as far as graphics would ever go) and ending up here, this level of gaming at home is nothing short of miraculous and I love it.

I'm glad they released when they did, I was really tired of playing DC, and I am willing to wait on the patches. How many alpha/beta testers does EA have.....100, 200...500. I am sure there were problems that came up after the initial release to the public that they did not realize, although I am sure there are some they knew about. Either way I really enjoy the game, and its only going to get better!!

Those that still have problems issues with BF2 are not following the advice given freely in this forum for whatever reason, they just wont listen to reason.
There are only 2 "MAIN" reasons why the game wont run for them.

                              1) The rig / sys / pc they are trying to install the game on is under the minimum specifications
                              2) The way the owner of the PC has his / her PC set up, is not running correctly!

(maybe they are to dammed lazy and want someone to go to there house and sort out there PC's for them)
