I am finally admitting defeat - I can't fly planes in BF2.
Well, I can fly fine. I just can't dogfight at all.
See, I used to fly 100% of the time in DC. I happily took on challenges from other skilled pilots and won my fair share of the time. The Mirage was my weapon of choice, and I got so good that I stopped using missiles altogether and relied on the twin cannons for everything.
I was an ace. I performed complex dive-bombing maneuvers. I studied dogfighting diagrams. I was the go-to pilot in clan matches. Round after round on El Alamein, I would score 75-0 (and DC had stingers that actually worked).
Now, well, I suck. I can't hit anything with the cannons (rarely get hit indicators, crosshair is too ambiguous and I can't seem to lead right). Targets resolve too late. Missiles never work. The lack of on-board radar means that I can't fly defensively anymore (I used to be a wiz with the radar in DC) - now most battles come down to 1) who sees who first and 2) who can turn tighter.
I am actually better in bombers in BF 2 because I can focus on ground targets and just assume that eventually I'm going to be shot down and I can't do much about it.
Those of you who flew in DC and have been successful flying in BF 2 - what advice can you give?
