    What on earth is the story of BF2?

    It's not in the (pants) manual, its not on any website, no one seems to know what the story is for BF2!

    All i know of it is that US invades somewhere (again) and gets attacked by China and MEC. Thats it. (maybe that IS the story)

    Perhaps DICE aren't too great on stories, 1942 didn't need one as it was set in a real conflict, and the same applies for Vietnam.

    Midtown Madness 3 (another dice game) has a story that is worthy of a school kid.

    So is there a good story to BF2? or is it just, "Here you go, theres the conflict, good luck."

    Maybe the conflict will be explained in Modern Combat, as that has a campaign mode.

    There is a story on every map. When the game is loading, you should be able to read it. It is short, but it's a story none the less.

      no story needed on BF2 , it's a multiplayer game, not some single player game where you have a storyline or something, not realy need for BF

          true, but it doesn't inform you of the overall conflict. how did this start? why are China and MEC not fighting each other (that would be a great map PLA vs MEC!)?

          I'd rather have a story in a game, wouldn't there be so much more great movies for this game if people had a story to run off? why isn't there a campaign mode like in Modern Combat or 1942 (i don't know about vietnam, never played it)

            There is no possible realistic explanation...

            stop trying.

            Even if you could get pas the part where you explain why the MEC is fighting us, who they are, and why China is fighting us (so, they are allied with MEC), then there is just no way you can explain how only the Marines are fighting against about 5 million enemy soldiers...(thats what all the 'map stories' say, marines fighting in every battle)

            it doesnt make any sense at all. US has no allies, if this situation ever happened, US would lose in 6 months or less...

                story...

                China = bad
                MEC = bad
                US = good

                The US fight MEC and China because there bad. Simple

                  but...
                  population of america < population of china
                  population of men in the USMC, a small part of the US army < people who are in the chinese army.

                  i think we can see who has the more manpower, plus there is MEC to include in the equation.

                      true. maybe DICE felt sorry for the USMC and chucked in some kickass reinforcements (cough SAS cough).

                      But is the conflict in SF the same as normal BF2? im sure it is, but it might be a different stage of the conflict.

                          China probably invaded taiwan and america went a step further with thier war on terrorism. Those are the only reason i cna think of for MEC and China both being at war with America...

                            yeah, but if youve got 1 person with a presicion rifle (M4) against 10 people with crappier, mass produced rifles (AK47). i think its easy to see who would win.
                            and don't just say the M4 guy because hes american and they are the best. The china guys would simply overrun him or just beat him senseless with big sticks and crazy secret chinese karate maneuvers.

                              419.3 billion for US

                              that number is not as important as the fact that mass can beat quality, its happened before.

                              If the US went to war against China right now, with all of NATO as its allies, it would be a hard fight, and millions would die. Throw in all of the middle east at the same time, we'd be screwed.

                              even if every nato country enacted the draft, the Chinese and 'MEC' would outnumber us by like 5:1(if not more), just about enough to match the quality of our troops with the mass of thiers...
