The flags represent control of an area, hence the name control point. If your flag is flown there in game, you control the area. If a Blackhawk comes in and kills you, it pretty much controls the area, it's that simple. If you kill it, you keep control of the area. What's next, tanks can't lower flags because they are armored? DPVs are too fast and beat you to a flag so they shouldn't be able to? Honestly, it's a feature people...fight it in game, not with whining.
Ha'! You're way off fella'. First of all, if a BH flys into an area and HOVERS, he controls nothing. He's just fodder for an RPG or any other type of Anti-Armor weapon...

Now, if he was to land, and ground units where to move in and take care of buisness, then yeah, that would be considered taking some kinda' control over an area.

Re: so Chopper Capping ends w/next patch?

I used to bitch about blackhawking but then i decided to give it a go. To do it properly ain't easy, you at least need a decent pilot and a crew singing off the same song sheet. That said I only did it the once, for me personally I get more satisfaction out of getting stuck in on the ground and earning honest points.

My favorite anti BH tactic in Mashtuur city is to hide in the shed where the Abrams spawns, when it appears jump in it, back it up right into the shed so it cant be seen from the air. Wait for the familiar whomping noise and watch for the flag to start moving down. Then pop out and fire one round into the crew compartment and another to the front, that takes it down every time. Not only do you get points for the kills but you get flag defend points as well. They don't learn and you can get away with it several time in a game.

Another way to make it hard for them. Go up to the BH re-spawn litter the pad with C4. Hide up somewhere and wait for the BH to get taken out. The crew all re-spawn and run to the helipad in their rush to get a decent spot on the bird. They ignore (or don't recognise) the C4. wait for the BH to re-spawn and boom. That tends to be a one hit wonder though they will come looking if they see C4 there again.

Don't bitch if you cant learn to take it down. Adapt and conquer. It worked for the Somalis.

Another rational-minded person! This is what I always preach -- adapt and overcome. :)

Re: so Chopper Capping ends w/next patch?

The Blackhawk was an annoying problem in the beginning because it is so easy to master.
I don't think the patch have to do anything to the Blackhawk based on the following:

            1) Ground troops are learning to take it down (it’s not difficult and can be done in numerous ways)

            2) Pilots are fighting among themselves on the Blackhawk spawn-point to get the drivers seat and their squad onboard. If the wrong peoples enter the driver often crashes the BH or fly it like a madman to get the troops to bail out, meaning that we don’t have to worry about it capping our flags.

            3) I also notice that the chopper experts are one-trick jockeys that is easy to kill on the battlefield without their chopper. They are getting tired of fighting to get the BH and since it is the only thing they can do in this game they leave. We already see posts on this forum by pilots that find BF2 lame and boring, strange not.

i think the only thing about helo capping that should be changed is the helos defense it takes one too many grenades and AT missles to shoot it down which leads to unfairness with the BH if we can take it down easier then they wouldnt be so carefree to just fly by and hover over the flag

Re: so Chopper Capping ends w/next patch?

I don't mind the BH whoring as much, but I hate the new trend which is regular Squads (same people every BH map), taking the BH and shooting people who happen to get in it first just so they can have the BH, this is happening alot more now, seen it and been shot myself by NASTIE_BUTLERs (7th player on the leaderboard) squaddies on afew occasions, now thats taking it to far.

As for curing the problem I think they should leave the BH as is but upgrade the flying cow (mec) with better armor and weapons, plus on some maps add more AA points closer to cappable flags, this would make it harder for the BH whores and give the ground troops something better to fight back with.

                  It WILL be changed.

Not really. Maybe in Mashtuur, but not as a hard and fast rule. This weekend a friend and I were playing a Chinese map (can't remember which one) and I was piloting the BH. He was engineer. We had a total of 5 guys on the BH. When the game was over, all people on the BH had between 200 - 232 points, but we lost the round. So while rare, it does happen. We were only shot down 3 times, but it took everything we had just to keep up with the aggressive ground forces. So employing a little brain power and tactical application in the area of operations, using your environment, and not complaining can help defeat the (what initially appears to be) superior force.

I hope you can still cap flags with the helos, but it either takes longer or they ruduce the choppers armor. They are sitting ducks when they try and cap a flag, right now though there friggin armor plated ducks. I love shooting down helos, 1-6 kills with not much work, I helo kill stat whore.

                        > make the tail rotor it's weak point.

                        Indeed a good idea there!

I've been all over the map on this "issue" (or non-issue, as some would say), but I've come to the conclusion that if punks in New Orleans can force down a helo by throwing rocks at it, a few stingers/igla's should do SOME sort of appreciable damage to a helicopter. As it stands now, it takes MANY rounds from an APC to do significant damage to a helo, when a more realistic approach would be that a single round punches a fist size hole through the side.

(Yeah yeah, it's a game not real life)

Enhance the damage done to all helos by rockets and the heavy machine guns that the support crews have.

Add some damage modelling to the helos so that when struck in their tail rotor, the pilot LOSES all yaw control and the bird starts spinning, just as they would in the real thing.

For *EVERY* action in the game, there should be an equally potent reaction - and when it comes to a coordinated Blackhawk hovercap (with engineers repairing and spamming mines, special ops spamming C4, and support on the gatling guns resupplying them all - not to mention a squadleader capable of quickly regenerating his crew), there is no effective compensating control, except for having nearly your entire team empty your anti-tank missles into the chopper at the exact same time, perfect hits on each of them.

I appreciate the choppercapping capability, but there needs to be compensating controls!

The US forces suffered 18 dead. The Somalis suffered aprox. 500 dead. I think this is exactly what people are bitching about .

EXCELLENT QUESTION! Perhaps you can ask them why they made
several changes to the game code in order to split servers into
Ranked and Unranked, so they could corner the game server market,
run prices per slot up to $8/slot.. and then when their precious stat
system was compromised by a FEW stat exploiters, enforce NEW CODE
into the game which resulted in silly 'minimum player for game starts..'
punishing the other 99% of server admins and players who dont exploit.

get back with us, and let us know what you find out..

If you dont think EA has DIRECT input to the code of this game,
you are just as dumb as they are..

yeap.. they might as well do away with the Sniper class alltogether, also..

since the enemy team has a fix on his location AT ALL TIMES with this
silly constant flow of UAVS/SCANS.. What good is a TRUE sniper class
when he has NO STEALTH. Hes just another class with a slightly better
                              scope, these days..

Its fine as it is, the best way is to kill the crew using an APC before the gunners realize you are there / get a clear shot.
