The last number, "27" isnt your average. ITs been determined to be something else though I cant remember what. Its the first number that really matters.Comment

The human eye can't tell the difference on anything above 60 fps, and it's really hard to see any difference at all once you get above 40fps.Comment

I think Consoles aim for 30-60 fps, for example.Originally posted by wolverine77i got 45/27 average it saidComment

Re: whats good for fps?
When a monitor is set at 60Hz and vsync enabled (60 fps), I can see strddering and blinking that gives me a headache. When I crank up the refresh rate, it is much more crisp and clear and easier on the eyes. And because refresh rate and frame rate are tied to one another - the best rule is always the higher the better.
wolverine77, you can always try turning off VOIP to see what happens; especially if you don't use it.Comment

The first number is your FPS, the second number is the delay between updates.Originally posted by dBsThe last number, "27" isnt your average. ITs been determined to be something else though I cant remember what. Its the first number that really matters.
60 FPS is the minimum you should shoot for. Why? The smoother gameplay can be thought about like this:
There's 360° in a circle, so at 60 FPS doing a quick check behind you gives you 6° per frame. At 30 FPS it jumps to 12° per frame and so on... With twitch type games like BF2, you rely much more on your peripheral vision to find enemies. Since you cover greater distance without updating the data on the screen, you increase the chances of missing something (usually it's a small detail that catches your attention). This is why a higher framerate is desirable. The human eye can detect change (peripheral) between 200 - 1000 FPS. FPS is really only valuable when you know the distance the objects have changed between frames. At about 15-20 FPS the eye can be tricked into believing that movement is becoming fluid. At about 25-30 FPS it can be easily fooled into thinking video is fluid.Comment

Someone's full of shit. I get 110 fps on average, and about 85 in a fire fight and such. I can see the difference.Originally posted by J()shThe human eye can't tell the difference on anything above 60 fps, and it's really hard to see any difference at all once you get above 40fps.
If you ever played CS you'd know, 72 fps is WAY different from 99-100fps.Comment

Actually it can, the 200 FPS isn't impossible as posted above, it can get harder yes, but limit is far higher:Originally posted by J()shThe human eye can't tell the difference on anything above 60 fps, and it's really hard to see any difference at all once you get above 40fps.
You have to seperate what is possible according to science and what looks and feels smooth as you play. 40-60 might seem smooth but ppl can tell difference. In BF2 low FPS (low meaning below 60) is still rather smooth though compared to other games, or at least that is how I experience it.
One indicator you are at lower FPS than you should be is when you start to look at the FPS counter because it isn't runnign smooth enough for you, then you need to worry about FPS, until then it is just a number IMO.Comment
