Anyone else remember the Marine that was part of a city ambush. His squad was in a building and one of his men got shot in a building that was swarming with insurgents. He ran in and took out 10 or 15 of the guys, carried the wounded soldier down the stairs, but got shot in the leg but kept crawling. Then a grenade rolled down the stairs after him and he jumped onto the wounded soldier to protect him from the blast. He was then shot 7 or 9 times in the back and then he freaking stood up!!! Then he carried the wounded Marine to saftey... that was just as an awesome story as the one you posted. I think he got the Navy Cross as well.

Did he survive? cause a gnshot to the leg, a grenade blast, and 7-9 shots in the back, for that he derserves like a medal of honor, so does the other guy.

I think that both peopel should get the mdeal of honor. I'm new to this kind of stuff,s o what would he have to do to get that, instead of the Navy Cross?

Navy Cross:
The Navy Cross may be awarded to any person who, while serving with the Navy or Marine Corps, distinguishes himself in action by extraordinary heroism not justifying an award of the Medal of Honor. The action must take place under one of three circumstances: while engaged in action against an enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or, while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict in which the United States is not a belligerent party. To earn a Navy Cross the act to be commended must be performed in the presence of great danger or at great personal risk and must be performed in such a manner as to render the individual highly conspicuous among others of equal grade, rate, experience, or position of responsibility. An accumulation of minor acts of heroism does not justify an award of the Navy Cross.

Navy Medal of Honor:
The Medal of Honor is awarded by the President, in the name of Congress, to a person who, while a member of the Army, distinguishes himself or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in action against an enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party. The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his or her comrades and must have involved risk of life. Incontestable proof of the performance of the service will be exacted and each recommendation for the award of this decoration will be considered on the standard of extraordinary merit.
