We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I agree with some of the stuff bu why are people coming up with all these guidelines and stuff. When did war have rules and guidelines. Especially a damn war videogame. Just play the game and have fun.
I dont know.... is this a quiz? What do i get if I get the answer correct ?
All Im saying is, Admins run their servers the way they want.. (well,
as much as the gestapo EA will allow them..) We dont need anyone
coming around policing all 6000 servers to see if its up to their standards..
personally, imo, there are MANY flaws with this game, a few exploits,
and a couple just down right stupid things EA should have never allowed
in this game..So its possible I might agree with 100% of your idea for
a good server rules, but I dont want anyone telling me I have to do it.
EA does that enough, already...
I agree with you 100%. TG is not here to impose our rules or standard of play on anyone other than those people playing on our servers.

Well, we come up with these types of rules for our servers because we realize that not everyone has the same opinion on what is fun. For us, fun is playing a game wherein the team that exercises the best combat strategy wins. Our rules help focus the direction of gameplay on our servers towards that end.
As for war having rules and guidelines, we have such things as the Hague laws and Geneva Convention in place which are indeed rules of war.
to the original poster; that's an excellent set of gaming rules. If I could find a server like that I would never leave. however, good luck selling mature ideas to this lame-ass player base.

I dont get it.. I mean, obviously DICE was trying to make this game
realistic.. everything in it is based on real items.. weapons, vehicles,
maps, skins, all of it.. but then they throw in this commander mode
with a magical map that displays ALL your enemies on it.. How corny
is that.. lets make a Sniper Class in our game, but then take his one
and only asset away, stealth.
Then you got chopper capping control points.. Since when did a chopper
in history take ground ? Sure, land the damn thing, Im all for it.. but
flyin off to a far away control point to hover for 10 secs to take a point
is idiotic.
Then of course you have EAs silly little server rules.. so that they may
protect the sanctity of their precious stat system, they punish the 99.9%
of honest players out there who dont exploit stat points, so that they
can thwart the .01% of stat cheaters who use exploits to run up their
stats... and for what? So, they can make pretty little avatars with
cute little ribbons on em, and high point totals... gimme a break.
There should not be 2 differant types of servers, imo. There should be
a Battlefield 2 server, and thats it.. Ranked and Unranked ? Blah!
Minimum Player to Join rules before the game will start? Blah!
What a crock.
The game is fun, The game is good, but the game is lacking in several
areas and keeping it from being a fair, honest, war game.. Why EA cant
make some of these things options rather than enforce them on ALL of
Admins is beyond me.. oh yeah, I know.. because they get boners from
their silly stat system.

I think the scan functionality is far too powerful. The delay between scans should be significantly longer than it is. Players inside of buildings or with any obstruction of the sky should not be visible in the scan. At the VERY least, the decay in player blips after a scan should be reduced dramatically.

Agreed. Another rediculous aspect of the game. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they nerf the Seahawk and other air vehicles to stop this from happening.

I was quite disappointed with EA when the game was launched and they announced that you could only attain rank on their servers or servers provided by authorized hosting providers. At the very least, they should allow for a local database that can be used so each server can maintain their very own rank/stats program as they see fit.

It all comes down to EA having a good idea but horrible implementation. They struck that deal to provide admin resources to ranked servers and that seems to have fallen flat on its face based on other posts i've read. I really want that ranked server binary with the ability to point it to your own local DSN to store the stats/ranking information.
Come play with us and then decide if the ranking is really that important.
As an admin, unfortuneately RANKED is important.. sure it means nothing
to the player himself when he is playing.. besides perhaps he may have
an unlocked weapon better than yours.. but thats the same as it would be
if he is playing on a unranked server.. Fact is, people are drawn to the
ranked servers.. so they can get their stats..
other major online games accomplished stat tracking without all this

I have actually had the opposite experience with TG and our servers. Being ranked really has had no effect on us whatsoever. Most of our regulars get hooked on the gameplay and tend to forget about the importance of rank once getting involved with us. There are numerous posts in our forums that attest to this as well.
I think that the quality of gameplay can overcome the lack of rank, provided you can pull it off and do it right. According to www.game-monitor.com, our primary BF2 server is ranked #178 which is far better than a TON of ranked servers.
We both have the same opinions about EA though, that's for sure. :)

heh heh, I hear ya. Ironically, I came from CoD (and CoD/UO, and MOH/SH before that), which had no rankings or stats. neither did JOTR when I played that last summer.
so, at first, I was very "who cares" about stats. however, as I have gotten better at the game, I am really enjoying watching the progress and having it "counted" and accumulated. it's wierd, I know. I am a TG type gamer at heart, and have earned all my points in a similar fashion.
regardless, I am sure to check out a TG server sometime soon. it sounds too good to pass up!

I actually agree with you totally, when it comes to the game play..
it doesnt matter ranked or unranked.. but I had totally differant
experience trying to get players to play on any of my unranked servers
no matter what I tried.. and I also agree, there are some great
unranked servers out there..
Hey EA, I'll beta test your games for you... all day, all night.. give you
feedback.. and hey! I wont charge you a dime! :) But DAMN, dont make
me pay for it first next time, eh..

Speaking of JOTR. They were promising stats for ages and ages and never seemed to deliver. I stopped playing it a few months after the Escalation add-on was released due to frustration with them ignoring glaring bugs in JOTR while sucking up more money forcing people to buy Escalation. (Sound familliar?)
Has Novalogic gotten around to actually DELIVERING on the whole stats system yet or is it still just vaporware? We used to play JO quite heavily for a while until it just.. well.. got old.

I think this would take care of alot of the ranked/unranked stuff. Server Admins should also be able to set the amount of points required for rank and unlocks on their unranked server.
anyway on topic
Apophis has already stated in another thread that these rules were taken out of context by the op. TG in no way thinks these rules should be implimented on every server. They have their own servers where they enforce these rules only on those that choose to play there. The op is just plain wrong, Limiting the way you can play limits what the game can become. TG has made the easiest mod you can, a rules mod, and thats where these types of changes belong. Vanilla BF2 is just the foundation. It needs to be broad and open, so you the community can build upon it and tailor it to your particular taste.
