My game runs wayyyy better with the 5.8s. I don't know what you guys are smoking but pass that shit my way.

Mike, ATI gives a driver remover that works fine.

Same here, 5.8 makes bf2 much smoother and even seems to remove the stuttering at the beginning of rounds for me anyways. Haven't had one single issue since moving from the 5.6's. MAKE SURE YOU RUN THE CAT-UNINSTALLER TO REMOVE OLD CATALYST DRIVERS BEFORE INSTALLING NEW ONES!!!!

5.8's are doing me a great service too, the only thing for some unknown damn reason i'm getting rejected from servers for having modified content since installing them.. go figure huh?

VERY LOW FRAMES!!!!
I reinstalled windows and reformatted my computer and I still have slow frames when my settings are anything above low. It's the same way for other games such as counter strike. AHHHHH I need my own personal tech lady.

Your Processor is ****, it does not match the video card you are using. No point putting in a X850 if you run such a slow processor, you would find that if you had a 9600xt you would get the same FPS.

He's right though... you are being held back by your CPU!

9600Pro 256MB here , 5.8 seem a lil bit better, no glitches (but not on 5.6 either)

With 5.8 I could finally turn my vid settings to High and still have 50fps.
Cat-uninstaller was in use.
No unneeded windows services are in use.

The only reason I am keeping mine at 5.8, is because it seems to help the "black texture" problem I was having. My X800 XT-PE still chops, and studders like no tomorrow, but atleast I don't have black textures along with it.

Lets face it ATI guys, we're always going to be getting it from behind when it comes to nVidia sponsored games..

I still sleep better at night knowing I have a ATI card...knock on wood :wall: with head.

9800pro and running fine on 5.8. In fact I noticed my fps improving by a bit.

To the guys with problems with driver installation, did you make sure that you changed your drivers properly?

Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->ATI Software Uninstall Utility

Restart

Install fresh drivers.

Restart


Sure, it's tedious, but it's worth it. If you think that just installing drivers on top of the old ones are okay, and complain about graphical glitches, you have only yourselves to blame.

it depends on your video card. i have an X850 platinum editoin and it runs perfectly with the new driver

I haven't tried the 5.8s yet. I'm running pretty smoothly on the 5.6s. I upgraded to the 5.7 - after doing a complete uninstall with drivercleaner, regcleaner, and regsupreme - and it BLEW! It was a complete mess on my screen, i couldn't tell what was going on. did a clean install of the 5.6, and everything's nice again. i want to try out the 5.8, but i don't feel like going through that whole thing again if it's not going to work for me. Has anyone out there running an ATI 9700 128 mb card tried the 5.8?

Using the 5.6 and having no problems. Tried a clean install of the 5.8 and have had major problems, as in i could see through walls!? Like the textures just weren't loading.
I'm running:
-P4 540 (3.2ghz)
-1gig ram
-HIS ICEQ Radeon 9800 Pro
-XP Pro SP2
