The drivers are fine, your card is buggered up. RMA it ans get a replacement.

Well i took the card back, they gave me a bfg 6600 oc in the meantime - card wroks great, bf1942/etc NO PROBLEMS (WOOT)

now i can either wait for a replacement card or demand my money back, and get a cheaper X850 - but id almost be happy to just keep my card (a new one, i mean, the x800 aint a BAD card)

          thoughts?

I see things havent changed much with ATI cards. I had the exact same problem with my 9800 PRO 256MB card. I had to throw that in the garbage because Sapphire has like 1 friggin year warranty. Your card is definetly defect and it's most likely the GPU that's the cause. The next card you get will probably be ok though. The performance of the X800XL is pretty good because it has 16 pipelines. The only other card in the same pricerange that has comparable performance is the 6800GT which is a bit faster. The X850PRO like X800PRO only has 12 pipelines and I would take the XL anyday over those cards..

I prefer nvidia over ATI, ATI has terrible tech support, cost me 100.00 in phone charges to canada. BFG/Nvidia cards are 24 hour toll free tech support. Plus nvidias install easier and are the best rated, 9/10.
                I would keep the 6600!

I'll take ATI over Nvidia anyday, unless you're going SLI. But yes, it's the card thats got a fault on it. Looks like a bad ram chip on it

Looking forward to Crossfire. So far all the tests have blown the 6800U's in SLI out of the water

When i had this issue in the past, it turned out to be the resolution and video settings i was trying to run. When i changed them to something else, it would solve it. It could be a combination of a bug in the BF2 engine and the video card drivers. Try playing with different graphics settings, like changing the resolution and or the amount of AA etc. If you can produce a situation that way that doesn't mess up like that, you know it's likely a software thing.

Seems to be off topic again. I am not even sure if the guy got a straight anwser. Drivers get confused when they are installed over each other.

Best solution is to start from square one and ensure that each part on your system is correctly connected and eliminate each issue. Might want to write down what you are doing as well. Computer illness is like people illness. Many of them share the same symptoms but can be entirely different problems. Good Luck and lets us know

Well I play EQ2 alot as well, so steer clear of Nvidea as their driver for that game were/are a pile of crap. So frigging hurry up ATI I got a few quid sitting in the bank to upgrade (yet again).
