EA needs to take a lesson from Blizzard; never set a date.

          Re: Oh, hey. Patch delayed.

Personaly I would have liked the patch this month but unexpected things can crop up that didn't show before and now have when they test the version of the patch they are working on atm.

No developer can set a fixed release date for a patch as big as this one is (140 fixes, maybe EA should have not given a release date) and not expect something to go wrong or get broke which then needs fixing.

At least they have come forward and told us now, they could have dragged it out afew more weeks.

All I will say is thank you EA for having the BALLS to come forward, knowing there will be whiners and complainers.

The game atm still has querks with my machine but is still very playable, ok the BH whoring is annoying but more and more players are learning how to take them down.

No I am not a EA fanboy, I am really upset with them when BF2 was released as I had spent my savings (My wife and I are disabled) on upgrading my machine (Bought another GiG memory, new HD Sata, and a 6800GT GFX card)
only to find BF2 stutter and CTD, but after the 1.02 patch things have improved, but I have been told its my CPU AMD3000+ Barton thats holding my GFX card back, so I need another, so that would mean a new Motherboard as well, total cost around £300,And as I have just spent our savings I can not see me getting them, so yes im not a happy bunny with EA where thats concerned.

And before anyone says it yes I do expect games to improve and have bigger demands on hardware, but HL2, DOOM3, and other games all run fine on this machine.

So along with the delaying of 1.03 have they announced any more mediocre expansions? "Battlefield 2 Goes Amsterdam" perhaps?

Seriously, get EVERYONE off these minite man expansions and put them to work MAKING THE PRODUCT I PAID 60 CANADIAN DOLLERS FOR ACTUALLY EXPLOIT AND BUG FREE. I've stood by EA and DICE for a long time but c'mon, they're running a freekin industry here.

Meh, I'd rather they give us a 'smaller' patch every 2 weeks than this big delay.

As it is, with the patch being so 'comprehensive' I fear for just how much will change in one go. It's going to be an entire new game.

              AND

You know QA/beta testers never think of everything. With changing more in one go there WILL be things they didn't think of that open up whole new holes/exploits/bugs/annoyances in the new gameplay.
It would be better to give us frequent small patches, parts of which can be backed out in subsequent ones after community feedback, if needs be.

              *sigh*

I agree with Athan to a degree. But who wants to download 50+ patches, to re-install BF2? I wish they would release something every 2 weeks, but in each patch, bundle it with the previous patches, so we get the latest patch, and thats all.

So they won't rush a patch, instead they rushed the game.

Just fix some serious issues first, we can always wait for 1.04 please.

Well i guess its better to have a patch that works then to have a patch thats rushed and makes even more problems. Hence the 1.02 patch with the memory leak.

Man, this sucks, the game has lots of balance issue and stuff, its not like its unplayable or anything, its just that it has so many obvious things it can improve on!

If anyone actually thought, truly that deep down the patch was going to be released when they said they must be on crack.

Hell im kinda regretting spending $50 on the game, i should have just went and bought weed and beer and partied with my gf. That would have been so much more fun.

I sit here & read these forums (because this site happens to be the best & most informative out there) & I can't believe the extreme whining & griping about a game that is, in my opinion, the best FPS game ever made. It's as if this is some sort of Bleeding B**ch on the Rag women's group FFS! I have been playing PC games since there WAS PC games & the advancement in technology that they have in these new games are mind blowing! I bet that not ONE of you whining asshats have the intelligence or Knowledge to make these games (cause if you did..maybe you should apply for a job at EA/DICE so it will be PERFECT) but yet you find every single fault or problem with it. I have not had ANY problems with this game except for the some of the in-game things. (i.e. punish system, crap AA guidance, etc.) When I was a kid, we had airplanes made out of balsa wood that you would wind up a rubber band to get it to fly, A paddle with a rubber band & ball attached that you would just mindlessly hit, lol, pogo sticks, wiffle ball & bat. You youngsters don't realize how GOOD you have it, so take a Midol ... STFU... Play the games ...or go find another hobby!! There ... I feel MUCH better now. lmao Rock On!!!

Well said GYB. Any of you whiny sh!theads play Raven Shield, also known as Rainbow 6:3? Good game that Ubi Soft rushed to make the release date. Then instead of taking their time making a couple good patches they proceeded to screw the game up with each patch they released. (They actually added more bugs than they fixed) Patch 1.03 is the defining moment in BF2, if they screw this patch up badly it could do major damage to this game.
Let them take their time and beta test the patch and do it right.
