BF2 SUCKS Compared to Desert Combat

for all the people posting bugs and isssues (i have had plenty) there are also people posting system specs like "crappy pos onboard sound" or 512 ram and bare minimum vid cards. i for one am glad the game has such high requirments... i only aspire to play it in alls its glory...

I like BF2 but theres thing that I wish were like DC and not ruined by making them like BFV - Helicopters most of all

What happened? I was under the impression that the guys from Desert Combat collaborated with EA to produce BF2. Is this correct?

It can't be, because Desert Combat had so much more stuff than BF2 has.

1. Bf2 has so many fewer types of vehicles.

Where's the scud?
Where's the MLRS?
Where's the minibird?
Where's just the average beat down car or tanker truck laying around?
Where's the ZSU?
The Vulcan?

2. Kits have fewer items.

No binoculars
Where's the damn Laser Designator we were promised?
Where's the shoulder launched anti-air?

3. Weapons are crap.

Anti-air missiles? Please.
.50 sniper rifle? No zoom and crap damage.
Light Machine Guns? Takes 400 rounds to kill someone.
Etc.

4. Bunny Hopping: Gay

5. Black Hawk can take up to 2 tank shots.

And the list goes on and on. Desert Combat was so superior to this game that it's difficult to imagine that the same people worked on both.

I miss the DC helicopter controls as well as the fixed AAA that actually worked. Also can't forget the portable stingers.

DC definitely has some better gameplay elements but I find I can't live without that sprint key now. It's so hard going back to DC after getting use to it in BF2.

Yea, Try to imagine Desert Combat on a BF2 engine.. Jesus that would be fun! That would be worth telling EA they finally did something right. BTW:: What happened to the Desert Combat coders now? Did EA fire them and send them packing? Are they making a Desert Combat version for BF2? Or are they paid well and went their own seperate ways?

1)Are you saying you would also want in addition to artillery already available in BF2 , the SCUD and MLRS ?? Holy Sheet !! I have a bad enough time trying to avoid arty , I really don't think we need multiple weapons of mass destruction raining down on CP's. Sorry unless you are saying to "REPLACE" the artillery with these two others..
2)Minibird ? Not sure what this is . Is this the 160th AH-6 Littlebird attack helicopter in DC? I think there is enough choppers in BF2 as it is . sorry I disagree.
3)There are enough vehicles as it is. Cannot see how adding more vehicles makes BF2 more playable. It's not going to make the game any better. Disagree.
4)ZSU & Vulcan. Again , there are anti-air vehicles in BF2 , I don't see the need to add more than there already is. Disagree
5)Fewer items in kits? I really don't care about this. There is enough as it is. Disagree adding more items which will only weigh you down or complicate the control system and weapon switch. It's fine as is. Disagree
6)No Binoculars? If you have a skilled Commander on your team with UAV, this does the same thing as binoculars. Maybe you have been playing on servers with crap commanders. Disagree.
7)Laser Designator, yes this was promised and shown in pre-release video trailers. Yes it would be nice. But I can live without it. If you have decent pilots they can still bomb to pinpoint accuracy as I have been on the receiving end of bombing runs for SU25 Flanker on many occassions can attest there is nothing wrong with bombing accuracy in BF2, it's down to the skill of the pilot and bombardier. Disagree.
8)Shoulder Launched Anti-Air. Don't know if this was promised but I don't think it is needed. It would far too difficult as a helo pilot to cap a flag with all defenders with shoulder launched anti-air. If you are skilled with anti-tank missile, this can be effective against helo's trying to cap a flag, plus tanks can take out BH's as well. I have done this many times. Disagree. Overbalance the game.
9)Anti-air missiles need to beefed up and more accurate. Lose track even at short range and are out-paced by jet aircraft. Needs to be fixed- Agree
10)Sniper rifles are fine. I don't use them but the M95 takes me down in one-shot. Can't see why this would need improving.If you are dedicated sniper then you would have already unlocked this weapon by now. Disagree.
11)Light Machine Guns. They do provide effective fire cover. I think the effect is to keep heads down behind cover so your assault troops move up and flank the enemy. I don't think they are that effective at long range in standard form, even when I am prone. The accuracy could be improved. ROF is just fine. Agree
12)Bunny hopping "Gay" comment needs to be clarified. Need a mature statement from OP. Exactly what is wrong with this? Many times I have tried to shoot enemy and they have avoided my rounds with this. I would say they would want to keep this function within the game. I don't do it myself. Disagree until further clarification from OP.
13)BH can take two tank shots . OP doesn't indicate this is good or bad. Two tank shots is fine by me. If it was one, ppl would be complaining about it being too easy to take down a BH with a tank. Can't please everyone. Can't comment further until OP explains himself clearly what he/she is trying to say.

Anti-Tank Basic > DAO-12(1st Unlock) > And another gun.

The thing that's REALLY missing from DC are the MAPS.

Maps like Basra's Edge and Basra Nights kick the poo out of Karkand, or Mashtuur.

This is true, EA cant stand competition and couldnt afford a fat lawsuit.
It's only a matter of time before someone releases re-makes of our favorite maps from bf1942. I cant wait!

no offence but DC does not nearly come as far as point of existence, and please again dont feel offended just check out www.pointofexistence.com . and if your there check out www.total-war.com , sounds weird but this finetunes PoE (point of existence) its a large community playing the tuned version of PoE. imagine people dedicated to really play as a team, as a unit ive done it and its great!!!! screw the commanders arty with PoE player controlled arties come back, special kits you can pick up in your own base (so you cant pick them in the spawn screen) more helis, tanks, well balanced kits for all 3 armies!! and curse EA and DICE for rushing their game to come out early but even at total war poeple wont hesitate to help you out if in need of help, but again please dont feel offended by my first sentence.

Its amazing how divided these forums are. I would have thought for sure 90% of BF2 players would be former DC players. But it seems to be the complete opposite and you get tons of people telling us former DC'ers to go back and play DC if we want.

What people don't understand is that BF2 exists only because of the HUGE success of DC. People literally bought copies of BF42 just to play DC.

I also agree that there are tons of parts from DC that i wish were in BF2. Would be nice if DICE would release a DC map pack since so many of the Trauma guys work for DICE now. I would love those old maps with BF2 updates, hey they brought out Wake in BFV flavor after a while, so we can only hope.

Has anybody started a Poll to see how many people on these boards used to play DC??
