No, in real life a Commander that carelessly drops artillery on troops would be court-martialed.

You guys arguing have to face the facts. There are very few times on this map when arty is needed or wanted. 8 times out of 10 wherever the enemy team is, you are right there with them.

I like the artillery there and I am going to love getting credit for destroying resources.

Funny how the best map on the game has no flying machines

If you want to play without artillery then play on a server that has turned off the commander option.

Or join http://www.21stcenturywarfare.com/ and you will notice that artillery is mostly off in that tournament.

I think that Karkand would be the most fun with no arty, armour or noobtubes.... It is most fun when the combat is man-to-man with the odd bit of transport thrown in.

Some commanders are absolute fools with their arty. I played with a guy the other day who would scan for enemies and wherever there were the most he would just plant an arty strike, regardless of whether there were 5 friendlies there. Then he would type 'get out now or you are going to get ****ed', then he would have a go for all the TK's he was getting. I had a go at him but he was a *****. When you have killed 20 enemies as commander but still have a negative score, you must know you are crap and not actually doing your job....

What an ignorant statement, first of all nobody bunny hops in CS or CS:S, because it's not possible anymore (hasn't been for a long time noob). Second, bunny hopping is a great way to dodge bullets.

lol typical most of the posts back are semi-flamers, but the dude is right really. I dont really have a prob with it because it makes the game flow faster but you loose out on alot of stalemate gunbattles with uber death at a click...

Ask the population of Vietnam, Afghanistan, Grozny and many more if they havent been on the incoming end of artillery-strikes. Of course arty have been used in street battles, read up on history and you know that armies use absolute force (Hiroshima anyone?) to acheive their goals.

I have absolutely no problem with arty on any map, sure I die to it, you are supposed to.

Whenever I have received a point for neutralize and hear that distant "B-WUM, B-WUM" I figure it is for me and my mates.
I then calculate... Will I have time to get a flag capture before the mother-of-all-loads lands either here or somewhere else?
If any doubts, I just run down one of the sidestreets and about 50% of the time ppl follow.
Sometimes I am right in my asessment and the strike hits the now neutralized flag us being just far enough away to FEEL it, sometimes it lands somewhere else and then we all just head back to finish the job.

Where do you guys find all this to be a problem?
Love the arty! It is the most powerful tool you have = Commander, help your mate to spot targets, make his job easy- be a teamplayer!

Here are my thoughts on why artillery on an urban map is bad:
-You don't even need engineers to fix broken arty, all commanders have to do is drop supply crates near them and they get repaired. That should go.
-Artillery often interrupts and destroys compelling firefights on the the street. I get frustrated quickly when a semi-dramatic flag defense/capture gets broken up by a bunch of bombs smashing into the ground.
                            -Too frequent
-It makes digging in and fortifying positions impossible since you can expect to be blown to pieces in 30 seconds or less(especially at the train accident/MEC HQ mess)

I wouldn't mind at all seeing artillery disappear from that map. I love a good ground fight and hate to see it messed up by unanswerable blasts that come every minute.
Agreed. Taken the words right out of my mouth, apart from I wouldn't just restrict it to Karkland, artillery needs a major nerf across the board.
