I think flying planes proficiently and doing successful bombing runs requires skill
Sure, but not enough to justify a 20:1 kill ratio. That should require someone really very good indeed.

If I'm good at something, I'm not going to hold back just because some people can't do the same thing.
It's not a matter of not being able to do it. Some of us have the restraint not to be lame.

Tell me. As a jet pilot, what exactly do you have to fear, and how often do you get shot down?

If you have a button that gives you godmode ,or getting that way, do you use it, or do you take your chances and play the game on the same level as the rest of us?

i am usually killed by another plane... that said I havent flown all that much really...

you better hope they dont bring back ground attack planes... i knew ppl, including myself, that could utterly dominate in those things....

they do need better SAM sites though... mabye some human controlled ones that use radar to target jets above a certain altitude... although the JSF is stealthy... so it wouldnt show up but say once ever 4 sweeps or so at the most....

This is a war simulation game, making it unrealistic like not having air support because its unfair to the ground troops, well it's not like that in war, so should it be "fair" in the game.
        Oh, please.

Realism doesn't come into it. It's an arcade game. If it was realistic, marines would be getting blown up by irregulars while they were having beers in a bar, and MEC wouldn't even field an army. People wouldn't be bunnyhopping. Guys with shockpaddles wouldn't be able to magic dead people back to perfect help in 0.5 seconds.

It's a game. It's meant to be fair and balanced so people buy it and enjoy it and your scores reflect more your ability in the field than your ruthlessness in exploiting balance issues.

Infantry are cannon fodder for pilots its that simple.
If your getting chewed up by a pilot it's because your pilots aren't doing their job,
Noone would bother making AA if it didnt actually work. Pilots fear AA. It's that simple.

If you want to get revenge.....learn to fly.......in single player of course.
        I can fly fine. I just don't.
you better hope they dont bring back ground attack planes... i knew ppl, including myself, that could utterly dominate in those things....
Indeed. That's a balance issue waiting to happen.

if the jets were removed form the game tomorrow, 85% of the players would not miss them. I agree with Klienzeit for the most part. I think he expresses the feelings of many of us.

You said it yourself its an arcade game and guess what you get bombed and you get to come back and fight again and if it wasnt you would be bits and pieces suitable as fish food perhaps. I get shot down plenty, a guy in good in a AA Tank is a pretty tough thing to get around you dont have an unlimited amount of Chaff/Flares and sure I may not die as much as being a ground pounder but the jets arent some undefeatable thing you seem to think they are. and just for the record I get way more points bein a ground pounder I just enjoy flying(I have an X-52 and Im not afraid to use it LOL, tho its kinded wasted in this game)

Oh and about your "Balance" last time I checked both sides have Aircraft.

I have no sympathy for those who are good pilots and fly the whole map getting 20 to 1 kill ratios. You are not that good, the game is merely biased in one direction, and you are whoring it to the max. Sure you are having fun, but you contribute nothing to anyone else's fun. Getting bombed by a plane is as much fun as being wiped by artillery.

Be thankful you aren't kicked more often. It's not that anyone is accusing you of cheating; just being lame.

That is some textbook whining right there. i don't think there's an imbalance - it's just that your team isn't using the tools provided to bring about that balance. If some of your people get in the AA sites, get in the mobile AA, and get in the jets, then the pilot is going to be too busy trying to shake off lock tone - or ignoring it and dying - to be able to cause much damage. there's plenty to fear if you're a pilot facing a halfway organized opponent. they're really not that untouchable.

That jets are in the game is fine and good. That they dominate as much as they do is not. Should you have bothered to read above, you'd have spotted why.

FFS, don't be obtuse. I am obviously not talking about balance between teams, but between classes. I think it's fair to say that pilots are a class. If spec ops guys (and not other ground classes), were scoring at the rates we see pilots do and were nigh on unkillable, people would scream bloody murder about the balance.

Get a dog, as we say in my corner of the world.

Get in your team's jet and do something about it.
It should be sufficient to get in AA, if they really worked.

if there are enough people in the AA sites, the pilots are going to be too busy shaking off lock tone or ignoring it and dying to be able to do much to ground troops.
And herein lies the problem. Jet pilots are well aware that AA poses little risk to them. Missiles track poorly (unless they are on a friendly), and jets can outdistance locks pretty easily. Most of the time they don't even bother flinching from their course.

                  i don't think there's an imbalance
                  Then you have blinkers on.

                  - unless your team doesn't use the tools provided to bring about that balance.
I do. In the absence of reasonable AA, I reach for the kickvote option to rectify the balance problem.

I guess i'll say it again because you chose to misinterpret what i said - if there are people manning all or most of your AA sites, manning the mobile AA, AND (not OR) engaging the enemy in jets, then that pilot is going to be in trouble. The jet's flares need a minute or two to become replenished and a jet only has so much afterburner for use in evading missiles. If he uses up his flares and afterburner avoiding one AA site, then he's going to be a sitting duck when he flies within range of the others - and that's when he starts to panic, because he knows that the next lock will probably get him.

One AA gunner will be useless against a jet, but if you use ALL of the tools then you're back to a balanced encounter.

                        wtf are you talking about?

Kleiaeinzietr what are you talking about? I never have problems nailing planes in the available anti-aircraft guns. That tunguska is mean to planes, and so is all the other AA stuff available in bases. Jet's are not invulnerable by any means, and I don't even think they're overpowered!

If we see people on our server starting kick votes for weak reasons they will get a warning and then a kicking.

                            Ditto.

Your solution is to sit a stack of troops out as sniper bait in order to kill one pilot who will respawn with his plane almost instantly. Your solution is to tie up 6 troops to kill one and you call in balance?

Even then, the outcome is doubtful. The missiles really won't hit much, aside from friendlies, irregardless of flares or number of batteries firing. Hell, the things only hit a stationary BH a fraction of the time. Go try it.

On the other hand, should said jet take a dislike to your AA, you are toast. Even a pretty dim pilot will have no real trouble doubling back and wasting you.

PS - what are "blinkers?" same as blinders?
If you put bliders on horses to limit their peripheral vision, then yes.

PPS - i was an anthropology major in undergrad, so I'm curious as to the meaning of "get a dog..."
Australians are never coy about insults, and they tend to abbreviate a lot. "get a dog" is more or less short for "get a dog up ya", or "go and get ****ed by a big black dog".

FYI, It's not as rude as it sounds, as we are casual about saying that sort of thing, and could be considered an appropriate response in much the same tone as the whining comment. You could interpret it to mean "Oh stop it, already", or" I despair of this".
