My machine is tight to as you say but the game obviosly uses a comination of drivers at the same time which causes the game to crash. Its quite possible its in the code because I used to get the same thing with Battlefield vietnam but not a fequent as I do now with BF2. Ive also noticed since I changed my 9800 pro to 6800 GT I get fewer CTD I also dissable everything I possible can ie: firewall, antivirus etc what ever is running in the systen tray. BF2 is a very system hungry game Ive heard of it using up to 700 mb of ram at points and if you consider the average win Xp idles at around 280-340 depending on whats running that dont leave alot in reserve. I really feel that the min system specs on this game are far to low Im running a 3500 64bit 1 gig ram 6800 GT 200 gig sata and when this game unloads its resources you can hear the system winding down and can take upto 30-40 seconds to unwind. Also Ive noticed a considerable rise in cpu temp, my system idles at 28-32 degrees depending on ambient temp when Im running BF2 I can reach temps of 40-45 degrees now that must be putting some load on the cpu for it to rise that much. Anyway all in all its a very demanding game on your system and you need a fairly decent machine to run it effectively.

I only started experiencing CtD's when I switched from Audigy to onboard audio. Driverclean, complete and careful uninstall and reinstalls, nothing would fix it. I formatted both my HD's and reinstalled XP. No more trouble.

Well, I was experiencing CTD's pretty frequently but have not lately *knock on wood*. I found that since I disabled hyperthreading for BF2, the CTDs have gone away. I still experience system reboots occasionally but not nearly as frequent.

Thats what Im trying to get at the older style amd cpu's and the non hyperthreading cpu's dont seem to have an issue, It must be something associated with the hypertransport/hyperthreading that the newer cpu's support. Just a therory but worth persuing. :hmm:

This is true my high end computer won't play the game for long or sometimes not at all. Always crashes either in game or just after the spawn screen. Sometimes can play for a couple hours sometimes till I move. My other computer an AMD 3000 Athlon, with a 5700 Ultra runs fine at low resolutions and 800x600. WTF?

Maybe I'll put it on my Pentium 3 and try it out, Come on EA/Punk BUSTER.

EA Tech says its probably an issue with PB. Then why aint they trying to fix it?

My Ass it is, its a hardware issue. When my pc crashes compleatly during the game ie: playing happily then all of a sudden im looking at the boot screen. The error message is the system has recoverd from a serious error, when you view the report it says a device driver has failed but cant give you any more than that. My view is EA dont have the programing nouse to fix this because they dont have a god damn clue whats going on. Take a look at a few other EA titles their track record is not so good.

I have never tried to play another other games online except MOH and Ghost Recon, both play fine at high resolutions 1600x1200, and ALL settings on HIGH. BF2 is the only game I have ever had a problem with of any kind. It plays fine single player but NOT multiplayer. I have Tiger woods 2003 04 05 play fine, BF1942 Fine. WTF?????BF2.
