It takes me like 5 minutes to load of bf2editor. Alot of things are messed up and confusing right now. I appreciate ea releasing this stuff but , man , no one knows how to use it.

First off, you have to use the exsiting BF2 road templates, you cannot make your own unless you are making your own mod.

          click the road tool,
hold alt and click to place splines,
select a road template from the list on the left in the roads folder.
(If the templates do not show up then extract all the splines folders from the objects_client.zip andobjects_server.zip files and put then in mods/bf2 /objects/roads.
then the templates will show up.
          hit connect.
          voila your road will appear.

i hate BF2Editor, I took all my time on my map, and then when i save it crashes and brings up a "Dump" Folder, anyone know what this is?

I mean in the mods folders not in the editor.

Also i belive you must hit build roads, or final roads before it will show in game.

As for the crash , im not sure if this is your problem but if you have the outer hieghtmaps activated, but not textured it will crash, Go into the editor and just delete the outer heightmaps ( they will show up as soon as you move the cursor outside the main heightmap while editing the terrain.)I had a crash problem and realized i had 3 of them active without realizing it.

as for getting the buildings, go to mods/ mod manager at the top, and check all the boxes. this will load all the resourses into the bf2+ at the top left so you dont have to keep loading everything from the resource tree.

You can select and tweak road templates in the ResourceTree. To add new road templates click Create New Template in the Plug-in Dialog. To create a road, simply select a spline and a road template and click Connect and select a name. To remove the road again, click disconnect. You will be prompted to remove the road from source-control, click yes if you want to do so. To apply the spline to the road and adjust the terrain, click Apply Spline. Refresh refreshes the road using its template.

Save your work every 15 minutes orso. just like with bc.
And just take your time and work in the right order than all will be fine.

Right order? Is that explained in the tutorials? Would be keen to know if there is a professional order in which to do things...

build terrain, choose textures for layers and paint, put in your objects, paint the details, tweak them, put in the roads, paint where nessecary, tweak them, put in your overgrowth, tweak it, put in undergrowth and so on, try to keep it as much as possible in this order, then after that put in ambient triggers and sounds.
In the beginning you copy the envmap and sky and watersettings from a map you like and tweak it from there, its easier to get a grip with all the possiblities of lightsettings.
also work base for base. That works for me because the more stuff you get the more you forget.
remember your terrain has to be finished before putting in overgrowth, if you lower terrain it will stay afloat etc

when i make aroad template when i open it later it doesn't save it, it saves the splines but not the templates

it's in it's own mod, but i need to figure this out.
