I actually managed to find another two support guys last night and we all laid down suppressing fire on the main Chinese base on a Fushe Pass 16 map but with 64 players. Probably the best in-game experience I've had yet, with the sound of three PKM's opening up on the advancing enemy in support of our squads just pure magic. The battle on those small maps with a full complement of 64 players and squads is just so intense. Not a real chance to earn too many points or awards but real fun to play on.
support players, hang out here

Yeah, support is my favorite kit and the SAW is my 2nd fav gun. I find that firing in burst of 10 rounds or so with maybe half a second interval works well (tested by spawn camping on karkand by the building on the right snipers like to climb). If i had a way to, I would make a vid for ya.Comment

well I went ahead and dl'd fraps and made these two little crappy movies (can't be ****ed to fix whatever sound problem is going on though) so yall can see how to fire the SAW, my framerate drops by 50% whenever I start recording so getting kills with that **** on record was x2 the challenge, have fun.

it always makes me laugh when some guy starts bunny hopping thinking it'll save him while i unload 38 bullets in his direction. then throw a nade to his medic friend.
also, bh whores. i can't recall the number of times they did NOT cap a flag because my pkm almost tore their chopper to pieces!Comment

number 1 concern for us support guys. i wish there was a way to counter this. like, we can do the spinning roll thing while firing and it would be just like in a stationary prone position.Originally posted by iNGyI love to place a well aimed shot in your head when you lay down to aim

I find that the RPK is the best of the standard support weapons. Seems more accurate for me. The SAW makes up for a bigger spread with sheer rate of fire. I avoid using the Chinese one (but I don't play chinese maps
)
Plus on Karkand, just spamming ammo packs brings 10 points within 1 minute of a new round starting.
Only about 3000 points until my shiny new PKM. :)Comment

dam it I hate that, in fact I can hardly get people to give me ammo. 90% of the time they stand there.Originally posted by Chris369I think Support has a very important roll to play. I sometimes play it myself but i prefer medic / AT. What really annoys me is people who choose support beause it has the biggest gun and they dont actually know their responsibility. Sometimes im completely out of ammo and im standing next to a support guy who wont give me ammo :evil:
o yea, im full time support, pkm owns all, except when a whole convoy of MEC tank whores roll in to our last outpost. I hate being AT but the game kinda forces it on you.Comment

I had the coolest damn time playing the support class today. I just unlocked the PKM yesterday, and boy does it rockzors my boxors. Karand, all foot, about 25 kills, 4 deaths, and about 60 something overall. All in 100 tickets.
With the PKM though, you gotta know the limits of it. Always use burst, also prone. Its also pretty good when crouching too. Dont get too far, or you wont hit chit.Comment

"The gas block is mounted permanently mounted on the barrel, and connected to the gas tube via the gas regulator. The infantry versions have an exhaust type, three-position regulator. Position "1" is a basic setting, which is used with clean gun, and next steps "2" and "3" are used while action gets more dirty. The gas regulator can be adjusted by using a cartridge or empty case as tool. Theoretical cyclic rate is 650 rpm, according Russian literature. Because the PK action has no proper buffering device, which is required for higher cyclic rates, increasing the cyclic rate with regulator settings is not recommended, because it increases the wear of the receiver and operating parts, and will reduce service life of the gun. The PKT and PKB type machine gun have a different "Venturi" type gas regulator, which doesn't exhaust fumes to the vehicle interior."Originally posted by [R-Mod]Scoggsso why does the PKM fire so slowly?
Probably because of its power and long gas piston, any higher rate of fire is at the expense of accuracy. wear on the gun and the shoulder of the user.Comment
