My fav is 1. M16A2: Great for longer ranges, accurate, and has small recoil.
I think its the pefect one to kill ppl the fastest!

how is the g3 in any way a bad gun?... if youre calling this gun a bad gun, then you obviously cant aim for **** and you dont know how the hell to use it.. Do you guys not realize that there is bullet arch in this game and you gotta aim a bit higher to hit the enemy?.. its not god damn CS... and the reason why the G3 has much less ammo than the M16A2 is because it uses sniper rifle rounds... Bigger bullets than used in the M16A2, thus dealing more damage.

Following the G3 would have to be the AK-47..

      G3 > all AR's

I think before you guys start calling the diffrent guns ****, you should try to learn how to use them properly first.. I personally believe every gun is good depending on if you use the right gun for the proper situation.

i think the G36C should be classified as an SMG regardless of it using rifle rounds. Just becasue of its compactness. If you want a real assault rifle as a variant of the G36 then you want the K or the just the plain G36.

Yeah, the G36C is the equivelyent to the Colt Commando, which is simply a scaled down version of a M4 or M16. The G36 is the full size AR and the G36K is the Carbine, so in a way G36=M16, G36k=M4, and G36C=Colt Commando, they shoulda made the spec ops unlock the G36K, that thing is awesome, it has two sights, a 1x aiming sight for regular shooting, and a 4x scope below that for longer ranges, both come standard, but the G36C don't have any scope, i'm guessing it was balance issues as well. And i'm not saying the G3 is not a good gun, it's just my playing style is a bit different, i mean up close the G3 owns, and if use it right, the G3 in long ranges also owns, but i'm a semi-trigger happy guy, and i waste some ammo even though i don't use full auto. Plus the GL is too big a loss for me, so if you like regular grenades, and have really good accuracy, then the G3 is the gun for you.

G3 or ak101/47 depending on what side im on :P

G3 for US I don't miss the 203 launcher because im not a 203 nooblet
101 is king imo, if im US and I kill an enemy assault guy i'll nick his kit :P

I was talking about the G3 statistically. I know there are people who are great with the rifle and good for them.

But statistically, the G3 is a terrible weapon. What really makes it worse is that it has terrible accuracy compared to all the others.

When prone under perfect conditions the G3 has an accuracy of 0.4. When prone under perfect conditions the M-16 has an accuracy of 0.24, and the AK-101 a 0.36.

M16A2 + GL all the way, its great for long ranges single shot, but if the thing gets too crowded at close ranges, i really preffer the allmighty AK-47!!!

now, i think that its really unfair that the AK-101 do more damage than the M16, considering that both uses the same caliber..,

Dont think of them as using the same caliber.
Think more like what kind of round they use.

                      M16A2 info:

                      Round: 5.56x45mm NATO
                      Barrel Length: 508 mm
                      Vo²: 975 M/S

                      AK-101 info:

                      Round: 5.56x45mm NATO
                      Barrel Length: 415 mm
                      Vo: 910 M/S

                      AK-47 info:

                      Round: 7.62x39 mm
                      Barrel Length: 415 mm
                      Vo: 700 M/S

                      G3 info:

                      Round: 7,62x51 mm NATO
                      Barrel Length: 450 mm
                      Vo: 803 M/S

Now if we compare this info the AK-101 and M16A2 use the SAME round but the AK-101 has a shorter barrel and therefore the bullet has less time to pick up speed.
But on the other hand a slow bullet may damage more than a fast one but a fast bullet may be more stable while in flight.
(But to my recollection the M16 is'nt known for it's reliable bullet flights and accuracy)

The AK-101 utilize a "unique" flash damper that reduce the kick in the recoil thus providing the gunner with a more stable weapon when shooting.
(It forces the gas to travel upwards and away from the gunners sights and the pure force pushes the gun back to it's original position.)

So accuracy is basically better with the AK-101 in real life.
The AK-101 is lighter than the M16A2 and that makes it easier to aim as well.
From my personal experience the M16 is a wepon composed of plastic and a poor mechanism while the AK-47/AK-101 is composed by a more robust housing and functional mechanism.
(The AK has to be robust in the harsh enviroment's in and around russia)

The AK-47 utilize a larger caliber but with only a 39 mm cartridge.
The ammount of power behind theese bullets are just enough to make the bullet stable in flight.
But that doesn't make the AK-47 any less of a perfect weapon.
The AK-47 lack the special flash damper and with the larger bullet the gun would kick more but the kick is quite similar to the M16A2 because the mechanism is one of the smoothest in the world combined with the design of the gun itself and it's overall weight.

Now if we compare all theese three to the G3 rifle we will enter a whole new world.

The M16, AK-47 and AK-101 utilize a lock mechanism that is gas operated.
Thus the moving parts in the mechanism is very lightweigth and the whole gun will work to dampen the recoil.

This is not the case with the G3. (I will from now on call it the G3A3 because thats what it is in the game!)

The G3A3 is'nt gas operated and use two rollers to lock the mechanism in place.
When the bullet travel trough the barrel the fore also brutally push the rollers out of position and the massive bolt of steel backwards.
If we go through this process in nano seconds we would first have the combustion of the gun powder that expand inside the cartridge thus forcing the bullet enter the barrel.
When the bullet start to travel the mechanism is subject of a MASSIVE force that work on the whole gun because of the lock mechanism and the big 51 mm cartridge. (22 mm longer than the AK-47 witch is about 166% of the force)
When the bolt is finally released the bullet has probably already left the muzzle and the whole gun has started to move towards the gunner. (This is what i call the first recoil)

Now the mechanism has caught enough speed to compress the whole spring and collect a new bullet.
When the spring is fully compressed the exessive energy (Too mutch really) is transferred straight into the stock and directly to the gunners shoulder.
                      (This is the second recoil)

Now the mechanism start to move forward by the extremely powerful spring and it finally comes to a immediate stop where the rollers are but back in it's standard position.
The cheer energy behind this movement is enough to shake the whole gun.
(This is the third recoil, eaven though it's a negative one)

This happens in a fraction of a second but the three recoils make the gunner notice the first two and without eaven knowing it he fight them as a reflex.
But the third one forces him reflex to fail because of the new energy that pulls the gun forward.

So basically to the whole point!

The M16 should be less accurate but it's a game.
The G3A3's loss in accuracy is made up by it's killer damage in real life but this is a game and the damage is way to low.

Dont ever consider fireing full auto with the G3A3 because of the info i gave above.
In real life you need to push the gun down while shooting from the hip to force it to stay horisontal. (Unless you are very strong and a veteran with the G3A3.)

                      My favorite rifles are:

                      AK-101
                      AK-47
                      G3A3
                      M16A2

                      My favorite other weapons are:

                      M4
                      M95
                      M24
                      G36C
                      AK74U

Please note that i know what i am talking about. Millitary for 8 years. Been almost everywhere!

while that is technically true, the .223/5.56 round has a whole lot more powder behind it than a .22 round. A bullet's lethality is not determined just by the size of the whole it makes but also with the force of impact.

Yes that and the fact that some bullets are designed to expand (JHP) or pierce (FMJ).

                          Some more boring info

                          JHP = Jacketed Hollow Point
                          FMJ = Full Metal Jacket
                          LRN = Lead Round Nose

Then i've seen a bullet with dual jackets but i cant find the real name for it.
                          It looks like this:

                          [:::::[==>>

The first point pierce and pulls off and the second is for extra piercing capabilities. (It kills "any" body armour, tested and true.)

The choice of bullet is determined by the expected target...

The Swedish police has moved on to a special JHP that bore one inch into a human body and expand, making it very difficult to pull out not to mention the possible instant death by the cheer shock! (They have been critisised by alot of human rights activists but the explain that it was a missed aspect.)

If you expect an armoured target you go for FMJ that will (with enough speed and force) penetrate the body armor and stop inside the body as a crumbled led ball.

If you need extra stability/accuracy you use a underdimensioned bullet that first of all travel faster and is lighter.
Theese bullets do very little critical damage unless you hit something really vital as the head, heart, liver etc.

If the army for some reason fail to choose the correct bullet type for the given situation the result can be soldiers with a tiny bullet hole that does hurt but does'nt stop them or a painful blow to the chest while it hits the body armor.

In vietnam the US forces initially used Black gun powder combined with a poor bullet and the fact that the barrel in the early M16's where basically crap.
This resulted in bullets that started off as normal bullets and after travelling 50 meters they could start to wobble and hit it's target perpendicular to it's first direction.
The result was totally torn off shoulders and heads!
The major problem was that the accuracy was like throwing a stone 50 meters!

I forgot something in my previous post.

BF2 is created for balance. In my oppinion each gun is basically as good as the other due to this "balance" and that can be frustration when i unlock a new gun and find out that it is nothing like the real thing.
They have balanced things out too well!

BF2 is created for balance. In my oppinion each gun is basically as good as the other due to this "balance" and that can be frustration when i unlock a new gun and find out that it is nothing like the real thing.
They have balanced things out too well!

Thanks for the info Cadde, I really appreciate it. ONe of the reasons that the M16/M4 family is being replaced by the XM8 is because it is notorious for it's jamming in key situations like firefights. But yeah, the AK-101 is the newest of the family, the AK47 is the oldest, although the M16A2 is actually newer probably (i'm not sure) the difference is mainly no full auto, and clambered for a different type of round that doesn't work that well in the M16A1 (it is not a different caliber, just a different type of bullet.) So it's not muvh of a breakthrough, but the AK-101 was the first of the AK series to be all plastic and aluminum stampings instead of the older wooden type. So yes, the AK-101 probably does perform better than the M16A2 in real life, but no armies use it, Russia uses the Ak-74 but the official rifle is the AN-94 Abakan, but they are not produced faast enough, so only spec forces have them right now, the rest all have AK-74s.
