Like Perditor said before me, use single shot. Use single shot all the time and save full auto for point blank range. Don't bother with bursts, just fire rapid single shots.

You will get kills in 4-5 shots with the rifles and 6-7 with the SMG's and pistol.

Full auto accuracy is absolutely horrible. When you think you've fired a clip into someone all you actually did was get 2 or 3 hits and 28 misses.

Of course, your stuck with full auto for the Support's MG, so let them get close and just spam bullets. Don't bother shooting past 50-70 meters. If they are prone shooting back at you, get up and run away. Bursting these aren't anymore accurate, but it will help you correct your fire a bit.

sigh....its really kinda easy.

get a gun with high accuracy and medium or high power. that way you dont have to worry about hitting them or doing any damage, because its guaranteed you wont miss. that includes all medic weapons, and G36C. there's others but i dont feel like naming them all. but basically just learn to aim, either you get it or you dont. there's no 'trick', just shoot the person. how hard is it to shoot someone in the chest? seriously. you do something called "aim", whether it's sights or no sights. if someone is far away, yes, use sights, but up close (talking about 10 paces or less) use open sights. but if its 15 paces, use ironsights because it's slightly more accurate.

it has a lot to do with hand eye coordination. and if this is your first game playing online vs other people, you're screwed unless you work on the hand-eye coordination because that is the key to shooting. you either get it or you don't.

There may be 'tips and tricks' for getting more hits, but the whole hit/damage system is horribly flawed throughout the game. Its a joke really.

BF2 needs to be patched into accuracy.

If someone is at medium range, don't bother with your ironsights. Just shoot in three shot bursts from the hip.


Bind your "single shot" mode to a handy key (I have mine on mouse 4). I can switch back and forth effortlessly. Like someone said before. All your long range shots should be single shot. You can pop off 4 registered shots and still have bullets left over. If you used auto, you would waste your whole mag before it killed the guy.


Close the gap on enemies. If you have position on an enemy don't give him a heads up on where you are. Try to get closer so you can kill him. Sometimes you have no choice .. you have to drop and shoot.

To get an idea how the auto mode just sprays bullets everywhere, fire at the water, you will be surprised by how wide the scatter of splashes is.

It is silly IMO, they have seriously exagerated the inacuracy of these weapons in auto mode. Bullets seem to be coming out of the barrel and going off at 5-10 degree angles from the barrel, tis crazy!

- Stay prone/crouched as much as possible
- Use shorts bursts (applies to the attack chopper miniguns as well)
- try to think ahead of the enemy (eg. they are most likely to prone i fin the open, or if near a wall, so be ready as soon as they do) and spot them first, that way u get the first shot or 2. think of what you are going to do next as well once you fire the shots.
- stay calm and stay focused on hitting the key areas (head, upper body)
- when possible use auto the first couple of bursts (leave mouse pressed 2 seconds per burst)
- as you shoot remember to pull mouse back slightly towards you (to keep muzzle down off the recoil; the shorter the burst the less this is an issue).
- *** when using the iron crosssights, make sure the top of the sight is 1 mm below where you want to hit (specifically in prone position firing at another prone enemy). this combined wil rapid single bursts will almost guarantee a kill, and save ammo on wasted shots.
- ***learn to alternate between auto and semi-auto to a T (eg. during the space of 4 minutes i alternate between the two about 10 - 20 times depending on the combat situation. if no enemy is near keep it on semi-auto as a rule). this will take a little bit of practice. preferably bind a mouse/key that allows for easy fast access.
- Learn to reload as second nature; whenever there is no enemy or you have a second press the reload button if you already fired shots.
- practice makes perfect and a combination of all these tips will make you a serious/accurate marksman on the field.

I have played FPS games since DOOM and i have always learned to aim through visual confirmation.

But i also adjust my mouse sensitivity accordingly, you should feel free yet accurate with your mouse. Some people use extremly low sensitivity to be able to aim better but when it comes to CQB they have to lift the mouse and move it to the other side of the mousepad to keep turning.
I try to have atleast a 360 degrees turning angle on my 26 x 20 cm mousepad.
That is if i move my mouse from one side to the other on my mousepad the game will turn the player a full 360 degrees.

Aim with your wrist and not your hand. This is working better for me anyways.
Practice aiming quickly from one point to another...
Pick out two targets and move your crosshair between them until you can accurately stop close enough to land a hit on both of them within 0.5 seconds. (The targets should be as large as a stop sign at 10 meters range and about 10 meters apart for example)

Learn to aim roughly the first 0.2 seconds and then use the iron sights to fine tune. The further away the target is the more time you use to fine tune.
(It takes me about 0.4 seconds to get my sight at a persons head with a sniper rifle at 30 meters range, the shot burns off 0.1 seconds after i get the visual confiramtion that the sight is dead center.)

ALWAYS look where your bullets end up when you shoot. This is your only clue to how you should adjust your fire.
Dont rely on the sight itself. That is only a center marker and your bullets wil land around it, some really close and some further apart depending on the weapon and how "fine" the sight is.

If you use a new weapon it is really important to note just how accurate it is.
Some weapons can be fired in very quick single shot taps and some need extra time to regain accuracy.
If you get a hit on the first shot and the target is stationary and you miss the second one then that is a clue that you are fireing to quickly.
Shoot once, wait... Shoot again, wait... Increase the speed until you start missing the target. After that you hold your fire and start over.
After a while you will learn just how accurate that weapon is and how quick you can shoot it before it loose it's accuracy and at what ranges it's effective.

If you are shooting at targets that is running sideways. start off by shooting directly at center mass. then move slightly in front of it step by step.
You will notice where you get hit's on the target.
After you hit the target the first time he may very well change direction.
Then you start off by shooting center mass again.
After a while your hand and eyes will automatically learn just how to track targets at diffrent speeds.
And when you have learned well enough you will be able to follow the blackhawk and pick off the engineers inside while it is moving at full speed.

Practice makes perfect but start off with theese basic tips and you may very well have a good foundation to stand on. This is how i learned and i can hit anything at any speeds but the accuracy is poor on targets that move faster than a running human.
But when i use the M95 sniper i can pick the engineers inside the blackhawk at 200 meters away while it is moving at full speed.

PS. The reason why people can turn and kill you with two shots is because they are extremly fast in rough sight alignment and finetuning.
I belive the quickest person up to date could do a full 180 degree turn and find the head and place a shot in less than 0.2 seconds.
Depending on the weapon he use and the range he could aim and place two shots within 0.3 - 0.4 seconds. And two headshots is just enough for any game to start considering you as dead.

This is a key point for anyone. The gun accuracy and deviation per shot actually is better when shooting in iron sights mode. So basically you don't just see better the gun is more accurate in this mode. All shooting but the very up close stuff should be done using iron sights.

Headshots are evil. I tend to use pistol instead of rifles as its very accurate and if the bastard stands still enough to give me time for aiming he's toasted bread.

If he goes prone its even easier to hit with a headshot, the hard part is when they jump, prone mid air, jump prone midair with an automatic rifle.. it pisses me off, so lame, impossible to hit.

Also the curse of pistoleer is the small clip, but the accuracy is so yummy
