nothing to do with the RAM. it has to do with the HD. get a raptor 10,000 RPM hd...considering you're loading the map from your computer ffs.

It takes my system about 20 seconds to load during the game, the initial map loading on a new game is about 40 seconds or so. Very happy with the performance overall.

Check for viruses, spyware etc. All can add to loading times.

I don't have a raptor. I did go from 1Gb to 2GB of ram, and maps loaded way faster.

30 secs or so, often one of the first to spawn when maps change and no lag or stutter at start...
Nothing special about my PC: XP Pro SP2, AMD 2500, 2gb RAM, 6600GT AGP x8, ATA133 IDE HD & 1.1mb ADSL...
I started out playing with 1.5gb ram, there's very little difference with 2GB..

Anyone who has a similar or higher spec PC, who takes more than a minute or so to load needs to do some PC maintenance, ie defrag etc..
A decent 3rd party maintenance suite is System Mechanic 5... You can download the software and use a 30 day trial here...
Download the performance product that’s right for you. Secures, and speeds up all the Windows computers in your home and office.

                Around 45 seconds - 1 minute

                1 GB OCz Ram.

It takes me about 30-45 seconds to load a map. It's instant if it's the second or third round of the same map.

I have two Raptors in RAID 0 and 1GB of RAM. I doubt it's the amount of RAM that's giving you longer loading times. My guess would either be your processor or hard drive(s).

Fast to load but the verifying client data takes forever so in total i would say no more that 5mins.

So check this out, I got that RAM someone told me to get so it would load the maps faster. I install today, it doesnt pick it up. I shut down and then take out and plug it back in. My computer starts smoking. I start panicing. My computer is my life. It smells like ****. I take out RAM in a second and restart. No sign of life. I go to CRAZY mode. I lay down. Close my eyes and try not to scream my lungs off. I go back and mess with ram and it starts up again.

I am assuming my RAM doesn't have anything to do with it. Maybe it is my harddrive. All I know is that its much better for a 5 min load, then having no computer at all. Butr seriously, NEWEGG is trying to make me REBUILD my comp.

I didn't see the smoking. But it was the socket you put the RAM into. Seriously tho, way ****ed up. I opened the case and it was all smoky. I should SUE NEWEGG.

This made me think though. Is there a good tower I can buy for like 300$? I have a good video card and sound card. I just want a better CPU and RAM speed. Anynone know if FRYs offers anything good?

What do you have right now (CPU& RAM)? Did you turn the computer off? disconnect the POWER SUPPLY CABLE?

Your going to change the mobo too right? anyways you should make a new topic in the hardware section so you could get more help.
