Whats so special about the G3?

I want it to be my next unlock but im kind of re thinking it. It only has 20 round mags, and 4 of them, ( i think the usual assault troop has 6 ). And no grenade launcher (i prefer it without).

Good things are that it has high accuracy and high damage and thats about it.
You still get some grenades with the kit so you arent without explosives. And it sounds damn nice but really i dont think its worth it.

I think all the unlocks arent drastically better its pretty much just about what looks the best. Thats all i can go off. Or choosing the kit unlock that its pervious weapon i dont like.

G3 was my first unlock. The learning\playstyle curve may be to high for some players... so be warned :p

Pros: Very accurate in semi, 40dmg per shot.. nice! Penetration. (Test this out on peeps hiding in the fruit stand at Karkand, or anyone hiding behind a fence or resupply crate, no hiding from the G3.)

Cons: Well... imo NONE. 4 mags? not a big deal when u have support in your squad. 20 clip? no prob.... the stopping power of this weap more than makes up for the 10 less rounds. Most of the peeps that dont like the lack of the xtra ammo and rounds in the clip I believe tend to be more spray n pray anyways.

This weapon I believe should be handled in semi almost 90% of the time. Only full in CQ areas or fast flag assaults.

The lack of the GP30\M203 imo is not as big of a deal... IF u are a player that has bad aim and bad reflexes... or just generally spazzes out when u engage then you will definately miss the glauncher and extra ammo loadout.

I have done some truely amazing shots with the G3 and it still amazes me sometimes what it can do.

If you are a calm methodical player the G3 will fit nicely into your playstyle.

The G3 will be my next unlock without a doubt. To me, it's a shooters gun. If u have good aim and know how to use single shot well, it's great. I use grenades pretty well so the grenade launcher isn't a big loss for me.

the G3 is nice, it can shoot through fences, it has good accuracy and it is definatly powerful. it was meant to be an anti-armor machine gun. in the game you can tell it isnt. you can shoot people through windshields with it, i have done it

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Many people here are mouthing off without even checking facts. It might feel accurate, but I can assure you it is not. In fact, in-game stats (despite BFHQ's rating of 'high' accuracy) accuse it of being less accurate than the M16A2 and than the AK-101. I'm not sure on the AK-47, I haven't the figures around. I'm certain it's the iron-sights configuration that give you a feel that it's accurate. It's good for medium range combat, but forget long range.

I unlocked the G3 and was rather disappointed by it's appaling accuracy at longer ranges. I've wasted 20 rounds on spot to try and hit a target at long distance, giving a good, huge spacing between shots to ensure recoil wasn't affecting anything. Over that range, the M16 would hit in half a dozen rounds.

I'd pick the M16 over it any day for long range combat, which is very, very wrong, as the G3 is supposed to have a longer range (trying to not get reality mixed in here, but it's round does have an extended range compared to the M16's) and it was reknown for it's accuracy.

It actually pisses me off, since according to BFHQ it's accuracy should be on par with the M16. All I remember was the M16 having some value of 0.30 deviation and the G3 having 0.50 (higher is worse).

Damage-wise, the gun is good, but not enough to replace the AK-101 for me. The 101 does 37/round whereas the G3 does 40/round. So you lose the launcher (if you don't like it, you won't lose much), lose 10 rounds per magazine, slower rate of fire (some consider it a pro), less accurate.

I think all it needs right now is to have an accuracy slightly higher than the AK-101.

G3 is LESS accurate than the m16. Repeat after me, LESS accurate.

The G3 is better in one area, and one area only, per bullet damage. Guess what? You get less bullets and no grenade launcher, so you better make those bullets count.

I love when people say you have to 'learn' how to use the G3. They're right, you have to learn how to use it to come even close to the score you get with the m16. The same amount of 'learning' put into the m16 will give you even more kills.

If I ever play on a server where grenade launchers are banned, and they only allow assault kit, then I'll have a use for the G3, lol

I personally think the gun is junk and can easily take someone out using one with an M16.

Accuracy will always own over power. By the time the user gets the 2nd or even a 3rd shot off in single fire mode, they will be dead to a true M16 user.

G36C is also very good. i just shot down an perfect conditioned MI-23 with less than 2 rounds. i shot down a Cobra with the G3, but it took a while because of the small magazine and slow fire rate

I was one of the lucky ones who had all their weapons unlocked yesterday and I can say that if they let me repick I'm ditching the M95 and getting the G3, this baby is the master at long range rifle sniping

g3 is a good rifle for shooters, maybe not the best pick for full auto users, takes a lil time to get used to.

What part of "less accurate" are you guys missing?

Open up the deviation stats for the guns and have a look. It's in the code FFS!
