Which, I can only translate because I worked at a camp with many Kiwi counselors last year to:

"We captured a flag and we need someone to help out with defending it!"

haha, this of course is meant in jest, and will be found only funny to any Americans who remember their first experience in communincating (or trying to) with a New Zealander (Kiwi).

There are no special priveledges for anyone with ranked servers... They have set guidlines to follow on what they are allowed to do with the server.... One of those is no passworded servers but by running servers under 'The(gay)Arena' is infact putting a password on it as u need a Gayrena account..... same with the bigpond server is not accessible by the general public....

If only EA redwood office knew what these guys get upto i dont think they would be on good terms with EA... Unfortunatly the EA australian office is the one that handles the aussie trusted partners

You don't need to have the Arena running in order to join, I've been using the in-game browser ever since it came out.

Its simple, change the name of the server to "Bigpond Members only", If they dont, then they are freakin A$$holes....specially since it takes 5 min. + for some people to connect to a damn server. Or, at least in the server message...its still lame though

Honestly, if you have nothing constructive to add, then just say nothing. You clearly have no idea how server technology works. A server doesn't 'wait' for the slowest player.

A player with a high ping uses LESS bandwidth than a player with a low ping, therefore they cannot cause lag for other players on the server, only for themselves.

This is completely correct, but try explaining that to people who want to blame their lag, or performance on someone other than themselves. I gave up trying to explain it to people, they end up booting (or trying to boot) anyone with a ping higher than theirs in a crazed spam of "BAN XXXX HES LAGGING US!!!"

If the server "waited" for the slowest player, well, that would be ridiculous.

FYI: 3/4 of the lag in this game is caused by a bug where certain maps make you load some shaders on the fly. Thats why you get a slide show effect, and yet your Frames per second and ping are more than adequate.

Dude, we're talking about YOU joining OUR servers. So dont join kiwi servers then moan about our accents. Besides which, our accent is resonably close to an English accent, and as I recall, it was the ENGLISH that bought the ENGLISH language to America.

I am a Bigpond subscriber and have been for a long time, one reason I play on Gamearena (Bigpond) servers is that it does not go against my usage, we have a usage capacity of 10 gigs after that the speed gets shaped to 64k, there are other Bigpond sites that 'save' you from wasting bandwidth that you might want to keep and is another aspect of the Bigpond Gamearena player issue and, also, I get a good ping.
