Is the m203 "Lame"?

So i was playing on my clans ranked server last night, the virtual warriors.

We where doing a 32 man conq on strike at karkand. I was using my usual class, assault.

After 2 consecutive rounds in first place, 2 publics in the server started kick votes against me saying i was a noob lamer because i was using the m203.

Now i mostly use the 3 round burst with the m16, or single for distanced shots, unless i need to reload in a hurry at which point i use the m203.

Or if i know there is going to be an area where there are pockets of enemy in the one spot i will use m203 because lets face it, 4+ enemy you get the choice of one to kill and the rest nail you, so of course im gonna use a 203.


The odd exception maybe ill be rounding a corner with the 203 and an enemy is there so ill hit him at the feet because if i switch to the rifle im dead!

Here is my m16 kills in the game, note i have far more time with m16 and more kills with the rifle mode of the weapon.



What are your views on this?

some call ppl a noob for useing it i see it as a way to kill ppl same as shooting rockets and stuff like that keep on nading

Using a given gun in this game isn't lame.

I dunno. I see a lot of AT classes using thier rockets to take out 1 individual, I might do it sometimes too heh.
I've seen IRL people using M203 to attack a building, of course they where going for the people inside though... heh

The weapon is a standard military issue and a good choice to include in any squad.

Man there is only 1 thing in the game that gets me ready to start flinging insults and that is some......dick......hopping around 10 feet in the air shooting and throwing grenades....

Anyway, don't know what the concern in the squad is about regarding the M203.

Even worse is the flying fish manouver the pull when they jump and go prone in the air, looks like some strange tropical snake or something.

Hell half the time i think these people are jumping and using thier joystick to manouver!

Shooting inf with an at is something i have never done and never will, i started fps multiplay on quake 2 and it was ok there, then quake 3, half life etc, all acceptable.

It was only when i started playing joint ops and joined a clan i realised people frowned upon it.

We had a clan match in which the other side mostly use that the whole match. It was quite annoying though because they didn't actually use anything else the whole time. I suppose you just have to get use to it and find a way to dodge em.

How dare you use a weapon given to you by the game?! Using the 203...terrible behaviour! Next you'll be telling us you're the type of player who shoots people with your rifle and pistol!

You're just as bad as those people who fire the tank cannon when they're driving the tank. :laugh:

^ They need to add splash damage, because currently if there's so much as a chair in the way, the guy you're trying to kill won't be hurt.

I don't mind it when it's used against me, but as the game draws on, if I notice one person never using ANYTHING but the grenade launcher, it really irks me.

For example, I was playing on Strike at Karkand yesterday, and this guy just spammed the GP-30 whenever he saw someone. Basically if he saw you, you were dead. No firefights, no sudden dives to safety, just whoosh *You are critically wounded*

I don't mind the gun but I hate it when someone uses nothing but the grenade launcher. ESPECIALLY if they don't mind killing themselves shooting at you point blank, which is actually counter-productive.

I always got moaned at in Delta Force Black Hawk Down for using the M203, so i automatically think its n00b and never use it. But i suppose its not n00b if its included in the game. Real soldiers use it, im sure the people getting shot at in the streets don't stop and yell "your a n00b".

The reason people (including me) think it's "lame" is because guys sprint around the corner and peg you in the head from 2 feet away with the M203, walking away unharmed. It isn't meant to be a sawed-off shotgun, give it an arming range or splash damage.
