The commander assets are powerfull tools, indeed and loosing them is a bit disappointing.

But why don't you think that the _main_ commander weapon is his own brain.
He gives orders, he's the one who coordinates the attacks and defense, being able to see (throught the max zoom) just everything.
And not the least, I think, he can "spot" enemies for entire team just in two clicks.

imho, the commander have to _command_ - arty strikes and uav are just the tools.
and game is not built around them (ofcourse if you don't choose it that way).

It's about time spec ops got some recognition. If we make the commander pull a squad back to defend his assets then that's just what we want.

I always take out commander toys whenever I get chance so it's cool I'll be getting points for it. It's a shame I'll be getting more competition though.

Spec Ops isn't a front line class, they're great for defending/taking isolated flags or going deep so this is good news.

But thats not my biggest problem with this whole situation.

My biggest problem is that you all keep looking at this **** one-sided. As it is now, engineers get points for fixing the commander's assets, but spec ops don't get points for destroying them. Seems a little jacked to me. Also, if more people were to play spec ops to get points for blowing everything up, it would make sense that more people will play engineer to get points for fixing it. Well, maybe it won't make sense to some of you, since you cannot seem to understand the concept of balance, but thats besides the point.
either you're a n00b or a ****ing jackass because dropping supplies next to the destroyed arty not only repairs it but also gives spec ops a refill of C4 to destroy it again and rack up more points. also, i've played mostly as an engineer and it takes a shitload of repairing to get one measly point and that piece of **** shotgun is no defense against an M4. that's the reason you don't see too many engineers as it is. also if you're a commander going around repairing ****, you're not fulfilling the basic purpose of being a commander and looking at the big picture. this patch is only good for competitive purposes like clan matches, but as far as pubs go, i'm pretty sure nobody is going to want to be a commander after this patch. one possible fix in my opinion would be to make the engineer class a little more rewarding also.

Actually the whole idea of having artillary in the game is toooo bad. people use it very frequently which makes it very annoying. I like to see special ops destroying the artilary all the time!

also commanders now will have a time to play more during the game instead of collecting points by just click a command in a menu.

I get spawnkilled in almost every game several times. this sux! it may get worse if you have an enemy in your base all of the time to get the artilary or UAV down. i agree with that, but having an artilary on your head most of the time is even worse.

i wish that the remove the artilary and just leave the UAV and supplies thing and leave things the way they are! do not give points if someone destroys one of them.

They should also do something about main spawn camping. this is the worst thing you can ever do in this game. IT IS NOT FUN. people who do it are just suckers! I actually consider them people with bad .. morals.. behaviours... you call it!

Wont make a difference. Most commanders wont even notice they are destroyed imho. All weekend my commander was either flyin or drivin a tank into battle. Guess they never noticed they were not getting points... Only time we had UAV or Arty was on the bases he was attacking.

Several times I attempted to command at the start of a map only to be outranked an then have him sprint to a chopper.

Look its not that big a deal. Just drop a supply crate on your stuff. Next time you die respawn at home as an engie if there's more to repair.

I typically fly with the pack as a commie. Just ride as a passenger and pay attention every few moments to the outside world. Watch where you're going. You're going to be more useful like this because you'll give more relevent placements of your supply drops and UAVs by using the commrose instead of a zoomed out commander gui map.

I frequently play commander. This will be a good change. The main point of having Spec Ops hit the commander assets is that it distracts the enemy commander form doing his job. If he is busy dropping supply crates to fix is arty and UAV trailer than he gets distracted. He becomes more worried about getting his assets back into an operational status than commanding and supporting the squads or more oftne than not the collection of Rambo's out on the field.

I agree that it is almost laughable to think that a squad will hang back to defend the commanders assets. Best option is to be an engineer kit commander and do it yourself when neeeded.

Besides the quick scan/arty combo is pretty effective against spec ops lurking in your rear area to blow something up.

Which is why you make sure the spec ops guy gets killed.

First of all, you don't need to repair an asset all the way for it to work, two cranks of the wrench will get it operational. Second, you don't just have a shotgun, you also have a pistol, grenades, other teamates, and, if all else fails, arty. Last of all, if you kill the spec ops guy then you will have plenty of time to get the repair point. Give it a couple cranks, do commander stuff, give a couple more cranks, do more commander ****.

You won't be running around repairing stuff all the time, only when it gets blown up. As I stated before you don't need to repair the assets fully, just give them a couple of cranks and they will be usable. You can also drop a supply box to fix them. That certaintly doesn't take that much time away from doing your commander duties. If you cannot handle something that simple than you should not be commander.

The only people who don't want to be commander after the patch are whiny b*tches like you, which is better for the rest of the community, because now that you are out of the picture we might be able to get some decent people in the commander position.

Firstly, no one is going to want to play commander with most of his assets blown away the majority of the time.

The commander is often alone at the back base, is is pretty likely to get pwned by a few spec ops repeatedly, if he is paying attention to his role.

Do we really need to encourage the camping of back bases/untakeable flags? Sure it's fun doing it, but it totally sucks getting spawnkilled repeatedly.

For spec ops who think they are now going to get points for this, I would suggest it's way more likely that the planes will just farm the arty for more points, and you won't get many at all. As if we need to be giving pilots more points...
You mean you'll actually have to defend your assets? Hmmm...sounds like a good idea to me.

I didn't read all the responses to this post. But killing arty helps the team a lot. I do it just about every game myself. It's a neglected part of the game and I think it deserves reward points.

Thanks to all those commanders that help me resupply by the way. I love that tactic. *Explosion* Supply box. Resupply. *explosion*. Another box. Kill commander. Repeat. Ahhh... I think I hear a lot more point coming my way.

you'll probably enjoy having a dumbass like Stripper_Clown as the opforce commander, he'll be glad to drop supply boxes to fix his assets so you can rearm and blow his stuff up again. please let us know if he manages to kill you with his shotgun or pistol or nades. also let us know if his team wins because he claims to be so damn efficient at fixing stuff and commanding at the same time.
