Corsair published a statement saying that Intel machines that went from 1GB to 2GB saw an average of a 20+% increase in Battlefield 2.

True, but I am just stating that because he runs an Intel system.

Also the AMD's do not benifiet as much, if at all, from the 1 to 2GB jump.

I find it interesting that you said whenever you had 1 GB, the music played for 2-3 minutes after the game had closed out....

Before I upgraded to 1 GB, I had 768MB of RAM and the music didn't play for THAT long after the game had closed out. And now with 1 GB, it only plays for like... maybe a few seconds at the most? Probably not even 5 seconds.

I don't know, but something obviously wasn't right with your PC or your RAM if it kept playing for THAT long...

AMD has much better memory usage and structure that is why 1GB should be okay in an AMD system (although 2GBs is the new 1GB, lol). Intel machines get a HUGE boost all around with 2GB. I am saving for mine. Next pay check, here comes papa.

Just recently went from 1.5 GB's to 2 gigs last week. Bought another Corsair 1GB kit (2x512) and gave my old 512MB (2x256mb) sticks away. Definitely noticed a loading and gameplay improvement, but nothing like going from 1GB to 2GB's. Next upgrade's going to be the proc...

I'm about to go from 512 to 2 gigs in a little while on my crappy not meant for gaming whatsoever inspiron 6000 and getting a new nvidia card soon (even though I can't find one store/website that sells nividia geforce go's):hmm: ( I would like it if ya'll could tell me where I could bye them):)

I was thinking about upgrading to 2 gb...
My system: 3,6 Ghz intel p4, Radeon X850XT, 2*512 mb RAM
Do you think that 2gb will make a significant difference compared to 1gb in fps, or will it just be a little increase?

Also, how can I check what type of RAM I got, and does it have to be the same type of RAM that I already have installed?

When the peak commit charge exceeds the installed amount of RAM and the page file is used to store game information, it takes a few seconds for the game to exit and release the paged data. This typically happens on systems with 1GB of RAM running with maximum details and after long playing periods.
