Don't think you can upgrade your videocard for that laptop. The RAM, yes.

yeah, I figured that out after visiting the 5 millionth sight that has video cards, I can officially say, you can't buy video cards for laptops sepretly
unless it's for a dell XPS gen 2 you can get Xtra nvidia geForce go 6800 for it, but they're only compatable with that laptop.... the video card I have now, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis!!!!!! A radeon mobility X300 and if my info is correct that not a good one at all!

I agree that having that extra gig of ram will make a difference, but I dont know that I would say it is the only thing that can make these changes for the game. (although it is probably the least expensive upgrade). The speed, quality, and latency read of your ram, and the north bridge processor speed (for those with intel) play a major role.
I only have a Gig of ram in my system and I rarely experience the problems listed above. I too have a 3.2ht, but on a Abit board with a intel 875 chipset. For ram I use Corsair XMS 3200CL2 Speed series with a cas 2 latency. HD is a 10,000rpm raptor (not that it helps any lol) Vid is 6800gt like alot of others. Although now I have probably jinxed myself and the next time I turn the game off the music will keep playing for hours on end. :p

I agree completely with the benefit of going from 1 to 2 Gb of RAM!
HOWEVER there is the big question of whether the mainboard will take more RAM ADDED or REPLACED!
Even if you have free slots there can be problems filling all slots on a mainboard!
Also dual RAM channel chipsets often do not like all the slots being filled!
              I had to buy 2 Gb (2 x 1Gb DIMMs) of TwinX Corsair RAM to replace my 1Gb (2 x 512Mbs)!
When I tried filling all 4 slots the performance dropped markedly. The FSB speed dropped and it was noticable in games and applications. My useless brother ended up with my original 1 Gb and I had to settle for 2Gb instead of 3!!
              CPU: Pentium 4 3.2GHz [1Mb F2 cache] Prescott 800MHz FSB
              Mainboard: MSI i875P Neo-FISR pcb2 (MS-6758)
Gigabyte 3D Cooler Ultra PCU31-VH 2004 GT Edition.
RAM: 2Gbs Corsair TwinX Dual Channel DDR400 SDRAM
              Corsair TwinX 2048-3200C2PT (2xCMX1024Mb-3200C2PT DIMMs)
GRAPHICS CARD: XFX Geforce 6800 GT 256Mb DDR3 RAM
              Monitor: IIyama 22inch Monitor HA202DT
              Sound Card: Creative Audigy 2

Yup Play High all with an AMD 3200+ oc'd to 2.4ghz, 1 gig OCZ plat. el II Lim Ed. oc'd to PC 4000 at 2.5, 3, 3, 9, and a Bfg 6800 Ultra, get a little lag for the first few seconds and thats it even on 64 player servers.

About the paper Corsair published showing the difference between 1 and 2 gigs of RAM. Did anyone else notice that the BF2 testing at 800x600 saw more improvement than testing at 1280x1024?

I am willing to bet that the reason the higher resolution did not scale proportionally is because the nvidia 6600GT became the bottleneck at that resolution. I suspect that users with higher end video cards running at higher resolutions will reap similar gains as did the Corsair test at 800x600.

This is just speculation but it would be nice to benchmark with a better vid card to eleminate the video cards limitations.

Sorry dude...I'm running her on AAX4 and all high...with the exception of sound...and I have 1.5 gb. and I never had stuttering with 1 gb.

Now with 1.5gb of ram and my new ATI X800...she runs like a virgin on prom night at the local prision! Look out!

Not to flame but maybe you should spend time working on your grammar and spelling instead of looking at video cards. hehee.

Just kidding...I'm in a sarcastic mood.

Yes the X300 sucks. I had it before I bought my X800. Buy a new one and use your old card as a door jam.

I have a Dell XPS Gen 2 laptop and I play at 1600x1200 all high settings and 4xAA. With 1gig of ram I had serious stuttering issues but since I upgraded to 2gigs it plays like butter. I've seen an improvement in all departments, in fact it's added 2" to my penis.
