I went from 1G to 2G.... My Results

Hey,

Just to give people feed-back for those of you that are or were like me wondering if 2G over 1G makes or not a difference with BF2.

Here is my case:

My specs are:
P4 3.2G
6800GT
1G RAM DDR PC-3200

I just added 1G (now total 2G) tonight and then played few hours. The results are as follows:

- First map to load is same time (0% improvement)

- The loading time is faster (for any oher maps) after the first map is loaded: (25 - 50% faster)

- The famous "Check client data" went from 1 min to 30sec (50% improvement)

- The stuttering at the beginning of any fresh loaded map went from 2-4 mins to 5 sec (Outstanding impovement)

- No stuttering at all duriing play time. I had a lot before. Very good improvement

Edit: - The music used to play 2-3 mins after I exit the game. It now plays for 3 secs (improvement)

- With 1G and 2G, I was running the ganme with everything at HIGH, 4x and 1280 x 960 @ 85hz

- With 2G, I now play at 1600 x 1200 @85Hz, 4x, without stuttering (99%). It's like a movie

Honestly I wasn't expecting that much of improvement and I had read a lot of topics on different forums and the point of views were mixed on the 1G vs 2G.

I hope this will help people to make their decision about RAM and BF2

And you people did not believe me when I said that High settings required 2 GB of RAM. I even tested it myself by borrowing a gig of RAM from my brothers computer. It was a massive improvement in terms of stuttering.

nVidia driver = 77.72. After you put the "Color Correction"--> "Apply correction to" option = "All" everything is PERFECT.

Im buying another 512mg stick after reading this.

its a little early to tell, but i just upgraded to a second 7800 and another gig of ram and have not noticed a bit of stuttering with high textures, even on a 64 player daqing oilfields session, which would cause me massive stuttering with one gig of ram.

I went from 1 to 2gigs and the client data thing is way faster now.

I have 2 gigs now too, but I cant go any higher as my MOBO has 6 slots but you can only use 4 as dual channel. Make sure when buying a new mobo that you check the ram type and amounts you can install. I also have the more expensive, over clocked, dual channel, kingston hyper-x 3700/466mhz.

I had a 512mb ram now, after reading this thread, i will considered on buying another 512mb sticks...
