I got this one the other day and I felt like an @ss running up to the enemy with my ammo bag out waiting for them to kill me, but it sure is pretty. LOL
My Great Uncle had two Purple Hearts while he was fighting in Africa and Italy during WWII. He got the first one by being shot, and the second one by saving his crewmates when a Nazi loyalist threw a potato masher into his Sherman during a parade.
It is a big shame that the 1:4 ratio gets you the medal.

that was highly inappropriate. We honor the men who fought, not belittle their accomplishments.
yEAH i agree its stupid way to get a purple heart, purple heart giving if you say someone live or get a bullet for someone, not jst diyinmg and killing 5 people, thats not right, they should change it, make a better way to get it.
Wtf? How does a potato masher reseble a german grenade? Still, you know what I meen:
Parade I thought being JUST AFTER the war so an ACTUAL potato masher :P
chk the picture in the link in the post above, and u will see why. and the guy DID say it was a "nazi loyalist" who threw it, so it makes sense. if it was during combat, he would have just said, "nazi" or "german solider"
