I want the A-10 Warthog

I believe there are still some attached to various guard units (at least, they were buzzing around here from the air guard base well after the decomissioning was announced). The A-10 is similar to the F-14 in that its main role isn't a big enough concern to continue to fly the airframes and the design is too outdated to warrant remanufacture (though in the A-10's case I'd be pretty surprised if someone could really come up with a significantly different jet that was better at doing what the A-10 did).

I have to say though, it would have been a much more sensible inclusion than the F-15 based on the scale of these engagements (though really having jets at all is pushing it with the very confined maps... they're just plain too fast and don't have the sort of counters that every other kit/vehicle has).

A-10 is NOT Decommisioned. The A-10C is the newset model of the A-10 and is in servece until 2020.

As if the game really needs another plane, and one that is slower and better at killing ground targets at that...

well the desert combat was supposedly going to be convereted to bf2.

i must admit, when i first got BF2 i was a bit disapointed. i really belive that the DC team had better weapons and balance between sides.

the a10 was a great plane, especially on EL-Amein with the anti personell cluster bombs... man i loved that plane.

quite frankley. i wouldnt mind have a few older maps like el amein for bf2.

Well first let me clear some things up (as I was close with the DC crew).

They are NOT the ones developing the new "Desert Warfare" mod or whatever they have deemed it. While there maybe 1-2 original Desert Combat Developers on the team, most have REAL jobs working for DICE. (as they were bought out by DICE a while back). They became DICE New York, which was later shut down. All members were offered jobs at other DICE headquaters, such as Sweden. The founder Frank DeLise also recieved a hefty chunk of change for DICE closing him down ($300,000 to be exact).

So while it has the same IDEA as Desert Combat, it isn't the same CREW as the original Development team.

I definitely think that including the F-35 in the game was a bad move. I mean, I don't care if the vehicles, weapons, or aircraft have to be tweaked for game balance reasons, but why they went with the F-35 and the F-15E together I will never understand. MEC and Chinese only have 2 aircraft each, and the USMC would of been just fine with the F-18 and F-15E. Then they go and place the F-18 on land runways when it's of course a navy plane....then they put the USMC version of the F-35 in there..which is good, cause the american side in bf2 IS the USMC. But they operate it off the carrier when the F-18 would of been a much better fit.

The ship in BF2 is NOT a carrier it is a Wasp Class Assualt Ship. Standard planes cannot launch from it. Only helicopters, harriers, and soon JSF F-35Bs are able to take off from it. Marine Hornets operate off Aircraft Carriers along side Navy pilots.

If they wanted a modern air force in the game, they coulda used the A-10, F-16, or even the harrier if they were that concerned with getting a VTOL aircraft in there. If they wanted the game to take place in the near future..well...replacing the F-15E with the F/A-22 would be only the first of numerous differences. They would of been smart to save the next generation of fighter aircraft for an expansion pack or bf3.

It's too bad EA didn't have more class when they chose the aircraft for the US. The F-35 is boring and the F-18 is alright. Why not the F-22 and an F-15C instead? Then, instead of the F-15E, give us an A-10.

By the way, don't try to pull the "Oh, well the marines don't fly such-and-such". They don't fly the F-15E but that got put in the game.

Hell, the fact is, by putting them on the Wasp, it means 'virtually' the Navy is there, so why not give us an F-14?

F-18 removed in favor of the F/A-22
F-15E Removed in favor of the A-10
F-35 can stay, as long as it's on the carrier, which it is.

the a-10 is one sexy plane but it does not have a minigun. it has the big brother to the minigun, the avenger, earlier models carried the vulcan. its built around the vulcan or avenger.
the minigun is whats on the blackhawks. a minigun is 6 barreled, 7.62mm, 4000 rounds a minute firing wet dream but its nothing compared to the others. both having 6 barrels, the vulcan fires 20mm rounds at 6000rpm a minute while the avenger fires 30mm rounds at 4200rpm.
