If people were actually bunnyhopping I guarantee the complaints would increase 10 fold.
obviously, i must be new at video games. Please, enlighten me as to what bunny-hopping really is...

easy fix = you cant shoot while jumping, you can't jump when you have no stamina.
Have none of you played Quake? TFC? Unreal Tournament?

It's not bunnyhopping. If people were bunnyhopping you'd see people passing humvee's on foot.

I agree that the jumping tactic is lame, but it is not bunnyhopping. Bunnyhopping is an entirely different, skillful and legit tactic in other games to increase your speed beyond regular running. You use it to go fast. Not to avoid damage. It's different.

EDIT: I was wrong in saying it's not to avoid damage. The whole advantage of going crazy fast is to decrease the chances of being killed. i.e. avoiding damage. But I still stand by my statement that while the jumping around nonsense in BF2 is lame, it's not bunnyhopping.

He's right. This is the definition of the original bunnyhopping. What we see in BF2 is no more than a guy randomly jumping around.

And it's not really that hard to take out. You just need to learn to stay on or two feet rather than jump to the ground and make yourself an easy target.

I can handle jumping. What I can't handle is people who dive on the floor whilst shooting you and by the time theyve hit the ground you're dead because you didn't get a chance to shoot at them with their divey lameness.

Sorry about the wrong word there, i just haven't played those games in forever and have slowly absorbed into the BF2 world... but whatever this is called, its stupid, and can easily be fixed...

                  THANK YOU

I don't know why this bugs me so much, but it took me so long to perfect it in TFC so that when I see people bastardizing the term here, it drives me nuts.

ladies ... it just doesnt matter how you call it ... random jumping around(and yes I DO call it bunny hopping since it is the closest to BH what you can get around here) to avaid getting killed is at least lame and and should be prevented. At least because it looks utterly retardet

Well I don't play those other games, so sorry for the definition mix-up. I just hate it when people do it because it takes the tactics out of the game. I think I'm more upset that I can never find a decent squad that will stick together. Cause if there were 5 more teammates around me, no jumping noob would stand a chance. :)

                        I fully agree.

It comes from counter-strike. Even I do it at times out of habit.

You used to be able to bunnyhop in counter-strike and they nerfed it because it didn't fit with the game (unlike the CTF and DM games like Quake/TFC which were fast paced). However, people still adopted the jumping tactic because it was a chance of staying alive longer while reloading out in the open.

OK, so I almost always play AT and my unlocked shotgun seems to knock people on their asses whether they're hopping around or not. I've got no range whatsoever though, so usually I have to run at them while weaving a bit, then A jump, then shoot like five or six times while screaming "Die, die, die!!!!!"

...so no, I guess it's not cheating, it's taking advantage of the hitbox (or whatever it's called) that BF2 uses to try to simulate actual bullet/target hit detection by screwing up where the game thinks you're going to be. Or something.

it IS bunnyhopping. slang changes, get over it. i understand you find it fun to be an internet sage but that doesnt make you right. stop arguing about semantics, it IS bunnyhopping due to the basic fact that more ppl say it is than it isnt.

i'll be the 1st to admit that in quake and cs it was really fun, quake also had zombiesk chicks w/ metal covers bolted to their faces running around on lazer rollerblades. cs had, well cs was cs.

By all means it isnt cheating... its just annoying. Ill be honest I will bunny hop sometimes when im having to reload or something. Or if im getting into a shooting match with an engineer with a shotty; it helps. Ill just run right at them and bunny hop in the hopes that i can get them when they have to reload.
