    BunnyHopping - is that cheating?

    Question to all of you..

Was on a roof gettign a flag the other day and the enemy came up the laddt as per the norm to see where I was. I had the Spec Ops gun (M4 I think) aiming dead center on the ladder so as to kill the poor bastard. I was prone with it scope magnified. The enemy engineer came up and I started to shoot, mid body, centre, he got up and started to Bunny hop toward meand shot me with the shotgun. I kept firign and tyring to aim with his jumps, up down, up down, the ... I die?????????

How the hell can that happen if I staretd shooting him before he got off the ladder/ I thought maybe I was missing him, but I honestly doubt that from 5 meters away I woudl miss.

I had read that BH was a cheat as it takes advantage of the latency on the web.

    Any thoughts?

If it was cheating it would be stopped, it happens in most online Fps's.

My feeling on this, is that if you can do it in the game, then it is part of the game and a legal tactic. Unless you are on a server that has rules against such things, you will simply have to learn to compensate. Bunny Hop back, it is harder to hit bouncing targets with a shotgun, and he has to reload more often then you. Compensate for your enemies tactics. Learn his weakness and exploit it.

cheating...no....annoying....yes.....but I did it yesterday in a knife fight with a guy who liked his M4. I won, but I felt guilty .....no i didnt. I usually run for cover and go prone when fired at..

Does it use an external program? NO. Does it exploit a part of the game? No. Its not a cheat. And internet latency is a BS excuse to call it a cheat. If that were true than someone on cable playing against someone on dial-up would be considered cheating.

What ever happened to limiting bunny hopping with the stamina bar? Seems pretty useless. They should put jumping on a 3 second cool down or something, or make it take half your stamina per jump. It's just stupid seeing people hop around everywhere.

For gods sake, stop calling it bunnyhopping. It's NOT bunnyhopping. It's just jumping.

It's definately not cheating. Just stupid that to survive you have to resort to it or you will die.

Jumping is what you do to get over an obstacle. Bunny-hopping is what you do to avoid being shot, by jumping at least 42 times in succession while wielding a knife or pistol. It's bunny-hopping.

You're obviously pretty new to video games. It's NOT bunnyhopping. Randomly jumping around is not the same thing.

If people were actually bunnyhopping I guarantee the complaints would increase 10 fold.

it's bunnyhopping. I'll go so far as to say that the game is poorly designed in that respect, so poorly that it encourages bunnyhopping as a tactic if you are close enough.

easy fix = you cant shoot while jumping, you can't jump when you have no stamina.
