You can use any content from the Battlefield franchise when you mod or make maps. As long as you are not making a profit from these maps.

Wait what was that ? any content from the Battlefield franchise ? but you just said we cant although it was said you can... EA just contridicted themselves..

Please explain EA ? KThnx otherwise I think modders will continue to use content because as you said.. thier not making profit !

I am afraid that you should have read the whole thread, because the support mails is countered later on.:

To clear this up, you are only allowed to use assets from a particular game or expansion in that particular title. So no BF2 MiGs in 2142 for instance unless you create them from scratch.

Additionally, if you use assets from expansions, that expansion should still be required to play the mod. Same deal with booster packs of course.

We're in touch with the EA tech support team and will make sure this miscommunication isn't repeated in the future. Thanks for bringing it up and appologies for any confusion caused here

LOL You cant just go back on your word, especially after mod teams have spent months on their work. Now I know a lot of people who have bought BF2142 just to play the CF2142 mod. ALL the money from that went to EA none of it to CF2142, so where's the problem? BF2 and BF2142 are rapidly diying DICE/EA should be thanking mod teams for using their content, alowing it a second chance, before this whole franchise goes down the ****ter.

Jets in 2142 ftw! BTW their not direct ports from bf2, the codings completly differnt, the only thing thats from BF2 is the model. the skin, code and effects are all cf2142. Plus they're a lot more fun to fly then the BF2 jets.

I don't think you will have much of a legal argument if EA decides to shut it down.
Releasing BF2 maps like Karkand for free is clearly against their currently stated rules. And I can easily understand why they have those rules.

Will they shut it down? I don't know, and don't care much either.
But posting that mail was not the whole story.

Disregard Hotlips ROK recruiting post for CF2142. Why are certain individuals worried about the legality of the mod? Just play the mod (jets along with more vehicles you can shake a stick at) and have fun (join Hell Frost to have even more fun-oops-sorry).

I dont think they stand much of a legal chance. One it was not in their original eula. two they originally agreed to letting people do this. mistake or not they have to face the consiquenses of their actions.

They cannot expect everyone who mods 2142 to read these bullitin boards. Thats simply rediculess. If they take down conflict they will have to take down all the other mods and maps that do this too. take 21cw for example the mod owned by MYIS, that is full of expansion pack content. Or alternatly look at all these conversion maps, some one converted Karkand on these forums, he used the heightmap from BF2.


So with that said how about actually talking about the jet, which is what this topics about?

Lol exactly you cant go upload stuff onto peoples machines and expect them not to play around with it. Last time i checked its not theft if someone gives you something.

Jey i do not know about that EA/Dice may come up with an original thought here and think JETS!!! That is what BF2142 needs to get mo money out of the people that does not mind paying for more content.
