Do you think Sentry guns, Apm's, and Motion mines be spottable?

If your in a 10m or so radius your mim map should flash red if spotted for a second or two. Having it show up as a icon would clutter the mim map. Anyway they do it dumb teammates will still get you blown up.

Yeah you'll still get blown up/shot every once in a while, but probably less so, right?

You should be able to spot APMs and MMs IMO. Sentry guns sorta gives you a heads-up and you can get away with only a bit of life lost. APMs are in instant kill if you're not careful (I know thats what they're for, but I want to have some form of heads-up) MM, once you've triggered them you're screwed if there's no engi around. I think giving these 2 mines heads-up too is good.

Agreed, I've done that countless times, I'm thinking it's just a bug with the hud.

you can look at the minimap..if theres a blue cone at your pos, its a friendly one...hard to see sometimes, but you can tell

i aimed at the sentry gun and it didnt show any sign that it was a friendly or enemy

Well that's the bug, sometimes it doesn't show an indicator.

If it was spottable, you could just spam a spot at it to see if it was hostile.

Of course, that would mean a lot more spamming.
