It all comes down to the o0c server. Doesn't matter if you hack(ed) or not. They banned you. And you're posting on TBF about some clan we don't even know about. Go to their clan site and post your story, not here.
oOc Clan Keeps Banning me for NO REASON!! Who do I report them to?

If you have a history of hacking until recently, then I don't trust you either.Originally posted by DoubledeuceWell, I dont think you should be banned forever. I've no real interest in reporting people or their servers, I've hacked in D2 etc, but I dont hack now?
If you have been clean this millenium then I am not going to hold past mistakes against you.
Narrow minded?Originally posted by Doubledeucetheres no reason to be narrow minded. If he got banned and wasted his money for another CD key maybe he doesnt want to spend more money on another.
He hacked until he got caught.
Then he just bought a new game, and thus avoided his punishment.
And now he comes here and whines because he is distrusted, and show absolutely no regret or understanding of why he is distrusted.
It all screams "I would do it again if I thought I could get away with it!"
What are you babbling about?Originally posted by DoubledeuceI find it interesting that you guys PMS the **** out of this but don't really care much when people actually encounter hacker/exploiters.

I dont really care much about this, havent put in any thought, but on a serious note, why should you even care what I have to say? as far as Im concerned I was talking to the OP not you, you shouldnt care what other people say, even if it is to boost your ego. on topic, a punishment is for something they did, more or less to learn your lesson. if I go about thinking that if a person steals gets sent to prison, why not just put him in for life or deathrow? He'll do it again; Albeit, my point is disproven on the fact that many people do that today, some people do learn their lesson, and even if they dont, arent persecuted until they've been caught. Give the guy a break, dont go so nazi. chill out.Originally posted by VrekiIf you have a history of hacking until recently, then I don't trust you either.

Im afraid your example of people stealing;getting sent to prison and some of them learning their lesson is completely out of context. I always find it bizzare/mildly entertaining when people try to make an inellectal argument using an example of a different sitaution that is totally non relevant....Im not trying to flame you and dont take my criticism to badly;it must be undersood by the player in question that he has admitted hacking and will therefore cop alot of flack from forum members who have to put up with hackers/gltchers etc - I PMed the bloke and he thought I was supporting him! Judging by his reply he doesnt actually care that much and still thinks using the hack just to get a feel for the game when he first started playin it was OK;if you want I can qoute that message here..so no dont give the poor bloke a break...zero tolerance to HACKturdsComment

Who the hell cares anyomore? He's probably gone by now. And I still don't think it was very smart of him to say his in game name or admit he hacked in the first place to get other people banned. What comes around goes around. :|:Comment

Yeah, I believe that a zero tolerance policy is important here. Justification, detachment -- whatever tactic the offender wants to take is not important.
As a community, we need to stick with a completely hack-free SOP. An admitted, un-caring hack-user should receive no quarter or comfort from us.

I noticed that. You also completely ignore my request for you to back up your accusation that we ignore other hackers.Originally posted by DoubledeuceI dont really care much about this, havent put in any thought

Because it is bloody expensive.Originally posted by Doubledeuceon topic, a punishment is for something they did, more or less to learn your lesson. if I go about thinking that if a person steals gets sent to prison, why not just put him in for life or deathrow?

Repeat offenders should be deported, there is still plenty of room left in Australia.
If he wants a break then he should start by showing some remorse.Originally posted by DoubledeuceAlbeit, my point is disproven on the fact that many people do that today, some people do learn their lesson, and even if they dont, arent persecuted until they've been caught. A thief doesn not magically becomes trustworthy because he has complete his punishment. The lack of respect for the laws of society that got him there in the first place will very like still be there.
He will have to work hard to earn the trust of soceity again.
As for the OP, he did not "serve his time", but instead bought his way out by bying a new copy. Obviously the punishment meant nothing to him, and he shows no regret or understands why he is no longer trusted.
Why should we think he wouldnt do it again?Comment

A non-caring past hack user who goes "oh i used to hack and i got caught and i would be hacking but i dont want to buy another copy" should be all means be banned. But what about those who truely regret it? What if they hacked in BF2 and regretted it? Should they get a clean slate for 2142?Comment

Reading through these posts has given me a rather startling revelation.
Many of you guys has a "zero-policy" against hacking. Many of you wants to remove former hackers, and I put a lot of weight behind the word former, from the game entirely and deny him access to servers. If one of your close friends had done the same, would you stop speaking to him, and stop playing with him, if he said that he'd come clean? I hope not.
This guy admitted to have hacked a year ago. He's told you that he's come clean. Yet few believes him and many use the 'ol "once a hacker, always a hacker" crap. This game and community would be a lot better if people would just try to forgive things like that. Sure, if he'd hack and cheat on and on then remove him from the game. But one little period a whole year ago translating to him getting Ye Olde Coulde Shoulder is just a might piece of cr*p.
Just give him the benefit of doubt. If he hacks again, ban him. If not then let him play the game.
I have a very good friend who hacked at America's Army. We brought him back to the bright and cheery side. And now we have a lot more fun that we would have ignoring him the whole day.Comment

A friend has a lot more goodwill to draw on than a random stranger.
But neither would I bend the rules for him if I was running a no-hackers clan/server. That would be hypocrisy.
That not how I read it. He mentioned the hacking as it was just a minor irrelevant detail, and he had stopped on his own accord.Originally posted by Light_WolfThis guy admitted to have hacked a year ago. But the fact is that he was punkbusted and lost his account, that is what stopped him.
Also I haven't seen him show the slightest sign of regret or having seen the errors of his ways.
Hacking can kill a game, and it is not something you just happen to do. You have to find and download the hacks, and in many cases pay for them.Originally posted by Light_WolfThis game and community would be a lot better if people would just try to forgive things like that. No. If you hack in a game then you are out. It is not exactly the death penalty, he just have to move on to a new game.Originally posted by Light_WolfJust give him the benefit of doubt. If he hacks again, ban him. If not then let him play the game.
If he had kept his new character out of this, or even said something like: I´m sorry. I was an *** but now I have realized my errors, then I doubt he would have gotten this response.
But instead we see him behaving rather arrogantly, and want to report a server for banning a known hacker. Does that sound like someone who deserves our trust?
A friend is worth the extra effort, but I don't see why anybody else should trust him. I dont keep a ****e list for people on other servers like this. I just watch my own responsibilities for assholes, loudmouths, idiots and hackers . For goodness sake its bad enough as it is to try to fill and keep happy your servers without banning people because the have a name like IHAX or because they are stupid enough to admit they had a silly account where they baseraped, haxed, stat padded.
If your an admin. then admin. Kick idiots, bad mouths, hackers. cheats, stat padders. Baserapers, (if thats your policy). Why so many posts on this topic?Comment

You make it seem like you have to spend most of your time LARTing losers instead of playing the game. Doesn't that bother you? Wouldn't you prefer if you could subscribe to a central loser list and spend you time playing the game instead?Originally posted by CatziggyI dont keep a ****e list for people on other servers like this. It is a natural part of all games lifecycle. All usable topics have been debated fully, so we are left with those that can incite emotional response.Originally posted by CatziggyWhy so many posts on this topic?
That includes cheaters and balance issues at the top of the list

Aye, Vreki, you have a lot of good points.
Perhaps he should apologize. It's up to him really. To me, a year without hacks speaks clearly enough, even though he stopped only because of his ban. Perhaps this is one of the few occasions when the punishment for hacking works the way it should, by converting a former hacker to a decent player. Again, the benefit of the doubt.
You asked me what I would do if my friend hacked again. I can't say, without lying, that I would cease being his friend. If I catch him hacking again, chances are I would cease playing with him altogether. If I had a strict No Hacking kind of server, like you, I wouldn't allow him in. Though I wouldn't report him, and if he said "Sorry" and wanted to play again, without the hacks, then I would play with him. And I would lift the ban. Third time's the charm. After that, permanent ban. Period.
Through what I've read of our "ex-hacker", I wouldn't say that he is a bad person at all. But I don't know him at all, so I can't really say. Though I he said sorry and regretted his ways, he would still be met with hostility from his fellow gamers. Perhaps not from you, but from many others. And that's what worries me the most.
